Colleen Manseau has been teaching privately in the Tallahassee area since 2003. With a studio of over forty violin and viola students, Colleen helps prepare her students with competitions and college entrance auditions, several recitals during the school year as well as community performance participation at local nursing homes and the Tallahassee Memorial Hospital at Halloween and during winter break. During summer break Ms. Manseau arranges popular music for and directs her own string orchestra
camp. As an official coach for the Chamber Music Festival in Tallahassee for the past four years, Colleen also works with middle and high school string quartets. Ms. Manseau is an official member of and plays regularly with the Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra and several other orchestras in the panhandle area as well as being a founding member of the Torreya String Quartet. Colleen Manseau is currently the director of the Orchestra Fundamentals Ensemble at the Tallahassee Youth Orchestra as well as finishing her Doctoral Degree in the FSU College of Music.
Mr. Mike German, a trumpet player, established the Chiles Band Program in the fall of 1999. The Chiles Band consists of 2 concert bands, a jazz band, a marching band, and a percussion ensemble. Band members are regularly selected to perform with the Chiles Orchestra and Choral Programs, All-State Bands and various regional honor bands. Mr. German believes students’ participation in the TSYO is a great musical experience for his band members. Under his direction, the Chiles Band has earned numerous
Superior ratings in the areas of Marching, Concert and Jazz Assessments. Mr. German was recognized as Florida’s representative in an article titled “50 Directors that Make a Difference in Students’ Lives” for the December 2006 issue of School Band and Orchestra Magazine. In 2011, the Chiles Band earned the prestigious Otto J. Kraushaar Award from the Florida Bandmasters Association. Mr. German holds a Bachelor of Music degree in School Music from Georgia Southern University, a Master of Music Education Degree, and a Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership with a Major in Ed. Leadership/Administration both from The Florida State University. He has completed additional coursework in Music Theory Pedagogy and is certified in Level II Guitar Instruction by NAMM/GAMA. Mr. German is also an active adjudicator for the FBA and other regional competitions.
