Overview CONNECTMOBILITY helps you to connect to the Internet or your company intranet quickly and easily. Even complex connection procedures can be automated, e.g.: ● Connecting via modem (i.e. GPRS mobile phone, GPRS CF-Card, �) ● Logging on to your company network over VPN ● Launching follow-up applications (e.g. for email synchronization)

Getting started Before installing CONNECTMOBILITY: ● Backup the data on your Pocket PC. ● Make sure the Pocket PC is connected to your PC. ● Make sure ActiveSync is running on your PC and is connected.

Installing CONNECTMOBILITY ● Run Setup.exe in order to install the application on your device.

First steps CONNECTMOBILITY After the installation is finished you are able to connect to the internet with CONNECTMOBILITY. If you want to configure some specific settings follow the steps below.

Destinations In the Destinations field you can choose the destination to which you want to connect (e.g. the Internet or your corporate network).

These destinations are related to the connection device. If, e.g., you choose WLAN only the WLAN destinations are available here.

Applications In the applications field you can choose the application that will be started after the connection is set up (e.g. a browser, a mail client or an FTP client).

Connect / Disconnect Button This button allows you to connect if you are offline and to disconnect if you are online.

Connection devices In the WLAN and GPRS / GSM fields you can choose the device to which you want to connect: ● your WLAN device ● any Bluetooth (BT) capable Mobile

Phone with GPRS ● your CONNECT2AIR GPRS CF Card ● any Infrared (IRdA) capable Mobile

Menubar ● The Config menu allows you to edit your

destinations. ● The HelpButton opens the help dialogue. ● The Information Button shows version

and license information.

Managing destinations Normally there is no need to edit the predefined destination of CONNECTMOBILITY because your provider settings are detected automatically. Nevertheless it may be necessary in some cases to manually enter these settings.

Editing GPRS / GSM destinations The following steps explain how to change GPRS / GSM provider specific settings.

► Make sure the destination you want to edit is selected in the destinations field (1).

► Tap Config in the menu bar and choose Edit Destination (2).

The Dial Up Destination Configuration page is displayed.

► Enter a name for the destination (3). ► Choose the desired connection type (4).

(GPRS connection or GSM connection, e.g. for RAS Dial in)

► Choose the connection manager to be used (5). (Microsoft CM in Standard Edition)

► Tap this button to configure your connection in detail (6). (For GPRS see "GPRS configuration", for GSM see "GSM configuration".)

The GPRS or GSM Configuration page is displayed.

GPRS configuration ► If auto detection is active the following

steps are configured automatically (7). In order to configure the GPRS settings manually: ► Enter the GPRS Provider name (8). ► Enter the GPRS phone number (9).

(e.g. *99***1#) ► Enter your GPRS username (10). ► Enter your GPRS password (11). ► Here you can enter the extra dial string (12).

(only for advanced users) or ► You can enter the APN (AccessPoint

Name) and the authentication settings (13). (only for advanced users)

Standard edition supports only one auto configuration. If you change your SIM card you have to enter the new settings manually.

GSM configuration ► Enter the phone number you want to dial

(14). ► Enter an extra dial string if necessary (15).

(AT commands) ► Tap here to choose the desired

authentication method (16). On the next screen you are able to choose the authentication method you want to use (Username/Password and Username/RLA supported).

TCP/IP Configuration ► Tap here (17) to enter special TCP/IP

settings .

DNS servers.

Proxy Configuration ► Tap here (19) to enter your Proxy

settings. ► When you have completed your

configuration tap ok (20). The Save Configuration File page is displayed.

Editing WLAN destinations

► Make sure the destination you want to edit is selected in the destinations field (1).

► Tap Config and choose Edit Destination (2).

The WLAN Destination Configuration page is displayed.

► Enter a name for the destination (3). ► Choose the WLAN authentication type (4).

(Shared WEP Key or Open). ► Choose the encryption (5).

(WEP or None). ► Enter the WEP Key if used (6). ► Select your network (7).

Any SSID automatically connects to the first open network available. Specific SSID allows you to specify which network to connect to. Scan allows you to scan the current available networks.

► Check this if you are running in Ad-Hoc mode (device to device). You also need to specify the WLAN Channel in this case (8).

Proxy Configuration ► Tap here (11) to enter your Proxy settings. ► When you have completed your

configuration tap ok (12). The Save Configuration File page is displayed.

Managing applications CONNECTMOBILITY allows you to configure the applications that will be started after the connection is set up.

Directly starting the application If you want to start an application from the CONNECTMOBILITY application bar simply perform a long press on the desired application and choose Execute from the context menu. The application will be started immediately without checking whether a connection is set up or not.

Add or remove applications In order to add or remove an icon from the application bar follow these steps:

► Tap the wrench on the right of the application bar (1).

► To add a connection select New (2). The page for defining new applications is displayed.

► Enter the file name (including the whole path) of the application you want to add (3).

► Enter commandline parameters if needed (4).

► To remove an application select the application and tap Delete (5).

► To change the order of the applications use the up and down arrow (6).

► To edit an existing application choose Edit (7).

► Edit the file name (including the whole path) of the application (8).

► Edit commandline parameters if needed (9).

Managing devices Editing the GPRS/GSM devices The above defined GPRS /GSM destinations are available for every GPRS / GSM capable device connected to your PDA. In some cases a few configuration steps are necessary to enable a device.

Bluetooth (BT) mobile phone PocketLOOX 410, 420, 710, 720 In order to connect your Bluetooth (BT) mobile Phone to one of these PDAs simply perform a long press on the BT icon and choose Add/Remove Devices� from the context menu.

PocketLOOX 610 In order to connect your Bluetooth (BT) mobile Phone to the PocketLOOX you have to follow these steps:

► Run Start � Programms � Pocket Plugfree. ► Use the wizard to configure your BT if not

already done. ► Choose your mobile phone (3). The Services page is displayed showing the services available for your mobile phone.

► Choose Internet (4).

► Enter any phone number and tap ok in the title bar (5).

► On the next screen just click ok. ► Enter your BT PIN on your mobile phone

and on your PDA. ► After the PDA starts dialing you can

cancel the connection.

► After these steps open the context menu for BT by long pressing the Bluetooth icon (9). Your mobile phone will be listed among the devices.

CONNECT2AIR GPRS Card For the CONNECT2AIR GPRS CF-Card no additional configuration is required. Simply enter the card, choose the CF icon and connect to the internet.

Infrared (IrDA) mobile phone For using an IrDA mobile phone simply activate the IrDA interface on your mobile phone. Afterwards you have to choose the IrDA icon. Now you are ready to connect.

Additional Bluetooth options To open the additional Bluetooth options you have to perform a long press on the Bluetooth icon. The context menu shows the following options: ● Bluetooth On � switches the integrated Bluetooth module on ● Bluetooth Off � switches the integrated Bluetooth module off ● All Wireless Off � switches the integrated Bluetooth and WLAN module off ● Deactivate BT on Disconnect � the Bluetooth module will be deactivated after the connection is

closed (good for saving battery time)

The context menu shows the following options: ● WLAN On � switches the integrated WLAN module on ● WLAN Off � switches the integrated WLAN module off ● All Wireless Off � switches the integrated Bluetooth and WLAN module off ● Deactivate WLAN on Disconnect � the WLAN module will be deactivated after the connection is
