NEUTRALITY
Neutrality is not indifference, inaction, incapacity or cold compassionless closed doors behind the fence. Neutrality cannot be bought and sold.
Neutrality is action with a heart which beats the rhythms of humanity; with both ears open wide to hear each voice above chaotic war's insanity.
The neutral volunteer does not forget her ideology, religion, race or politics. She knows herself. And yet she knows there is more than one human face
Neutrality is not weak or naïve, steps boldly through barbed-wire, sees no sense in suffering, Not frightened to believe – neutrality embraces difference.

"We have relied on the wisdom and traditional knowledge of our elders for thousands of years. To us this traditional knowledge is more important than any studies, and based on this knowledge, we have been continuing our struggle against the aquaculture industry which infringed upon our inherent aboriginal rights by encroaching in our territories violating our rights with the help of the governments."

These people are history (were exterminated)
Preservation of human dignity, indeed....
Chinook, Cheyenne,Sioux, Apache helicopters...tomahawk cruise missiles..
...is a disguisting insultto all those struggling
for social justice..
..placing Native nameson weapons of mass destruction
to exterminate poor and oppressed people....
What's in a name
to place Native names on weapons of mass destruction to exterminate other poor and oppressed peoples to preserve the so-called American way of life is a disgusting insult to all those struggling for social justice.....
....(the) stark reality (is) that Native communities suffer the highest unemployment, alcohol and drug addiction, school drop-outs and infant mortality of any nationality.
HUMAN DIGNITY
I saw that when I moved from the Norwegian Red Cross to the United Nations, I was moving from a truly international voluntary movement that embodies the spirit of people’s commitment to assist each other; to a United Nations that is striving to put people at the center of a multilateral approach and where we have a common commitment to respect human dignity. It is all too easy to forget that human dignity is at the very heart of our humanitarian work. It is the central pillar of humanitarian endeavour. Yet, we live in a world where humanitarian assistance is frequently seen as part of a “humanitarian enterprise”. Where all too often humanitarian action is only seen as the movement of goods and commodities. Where the constant mass media images of distress are no longer capable of shock. This is why we risk dehumanizing our understanding of the very nature of distress.
Statement by Mr. Jan EgelandUnder-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairsand Emergency Relief Coordinatorto the 28th International Conference of the Red Cross and Red Crescent
