About The Course
The City & Guilds 2391-10 course is focussed on Part 6 of the 17th Edition Wiring
Regulations (BS7671:2008) which is about the Inspection & Testing of fixed electricalinstallations in the UK. Candidates study the Inspection & Testing process in depth usingBS7671:2008 and the IEE publication "Guidance Note 3" for reference.
If you have many years of practical experience of testing but no formal Inspection &
Testing qualifications, this course will provide you with a highly sought after qualificationrecognised throughout the electrical industry. It will also bring you up to date with thecurrent regulations and requirements relating to Inspection & Testing.
If you are a fully qualified electrician (having completed a City & Guilds 2360 Parts 1 & 2or equivalent) then the course will make you eligible to be a recognised electrical
inspector which would enable you to take on this role for your employer.
Entry Requirements
As a minimum, candidates would be expected to hold a current 17th Edition Certificate
(2382-10 or 2382-20) and ideally have relevant electrical installation and testing experienceprior to being considered for this course.
The 2391-10 is not suitable for those with limited experience of inspection & testing, please see the 2392-10 fundamental course.
Assessment
A 2½ hour written paper (closed book)AND a practical assessment.
Duration
The course will take four days & the practical assessment willusually take place during your course.
The written exam will take place on a Thursday evening shortly after your course.
What is included in the course fee?
Your exam fee is included. (Exam resits will be at an additional cost)
You will need to bring your own copy of the IEE Guidance Note 3.
Tea & coffee are included, but please note that there are no shops on site and we do not
provide lunch. Candidates are advised to make their own arrangements.
About The Course
This course is intended to provide candidates with an introduction to the initial inspection,
testing & verification of electrical installations.
It is suitable for practising electricians who have not carried out
inspection & testing since qualifying or who require someupdate training.
This course is also aimed at those with limited experience ofinspection & testing including those entering the industry fromother engineering disciplines and allied trades.
The 2392-10 can be used as a qualification on its own or as astepping-stone to the more advanced 2391-10.
The course covers initial verification of electrical installations onlyand not periodic inspection. It is designed around simple single phase installations such as
domestic situations.
It will provide hands on experience in carrying out initial inspection & testing to comply withthe requirements of BS7671:2008.
Entry Requirements
There are no formal entry requirements but it is expected that candidates should have abasic knowledge & understanding of the current BS 7671:2008 (17 th Edition). If possible youshould complete either the 2382-10 or 2382-20 prior to taking the 2392-10 course.
Assessment
A multiple choice online exam (closed book)AND a practical assessment.
Duration
Three days - online exam and practical assessment are carried out within these days .
