 What influence does our world-vision have on this? How do our daily objectives & criteria fit in all this? If our vision is programmed, in great part by the "consumer dream" of our present culture ... How can we really change it?

Even though we might have good information & good intention, it's inevitable that we go dragging behind us many habits, patterns & ways of thinking that aren't very permacultural ...

Creating a Sustainable Planet

(PermaCulture Ethics)

Vision of the World-Wide Permaculture

Community

eg. PAL (Permacultura America Latina) & IPES (Instituto de Permacultura El Salvador)

Page 7: PDC+++ Module 2 Class 3 Visioning

We believe in:

• Cooperating & living in harmony with nature.

• Put the restoration of the earth at the heart of all of our activities for the benefit of future generations.

• The vitality & skills of the Salvadorian people for transforming their own relity.

• The importance of community life for the development of the individual & of society.

• The soul of indigenous faith in our given life, the spiritual force in the universe & the fundamental interconnection of all life.

Why not have a sustainable futureWhy not have a full & enriching life, nice & secure in a

supportive environment?Why not have work that makes sense & leaves time for

other activities? Why not have a full social life with lots of fun?

Why not convert our cities as a group of eco-villages, decent places where to live?Why not grow healthy food?

Why not keep gardens, parks & public spaces designed like gardens of Eden?

Why not have industrial plants that recycle everything we use in our lives?

Why not share with the people around us?Why not? In the end it is up to us. It isn't enough that we

beat our chests & cry. What can I do?What we can do is totally clear.

First of all we have to put in order our own house. From that point we can extend our influence towards the

community through our example, through our society, through our values & transform the Earth in a better place.

Do it!

sense of self-esteem, identity,

emotional anchorage

- direction in life, - internal reference mark which interprets for you what is happening out there,- standards or principles or implicit criteria which govern the decisions of each moment

- your sense of equilibrium, perspective in life- your knowledge of how each part & principle is applied & inter-relate

- the capacity to act,- the force & potential for achieving something,- the vital energy for taking decisions & choosing,- the capacity to overcome very stuck habits & cultivate others which are more elevated, more effective

Many Centres

with which do you identify?

WHO wrote / is writing the movie am directing?

Page 42: PDC+++ Module 2 Class 3 Visioning

The Partner Centre

security

power

guidewisdom

is based in how your partnertreats you

- your needs & those of your partner- decisions limited to what would be best for the relationship

- your perspective is stuck on the things that may affect the relationship with your partner

limited by the weaknesses of your partner & yours

Page 43: PDC+++ Module 2 Class 3 Visioning

The Family Centre

security

power

guidewisdom

Acceptance of the family& performing your role in it

A family script is your guide to correct attitudes & behaviours

- you interpret life in terms of the family- a partial understanding & family narcissism

your actions are limited by family models & traditions

Page 44: PDC+++ Module 2 Class 3 Visioning

A Money Centre

security

power

guidewisdom

your self-esteem depends on your economic 'value'vulnerable to anything that threatens your economic security

your criteria for making decisions are based on how much you make / what economic security you will gain

the "economic reality" are the glasses through which you see & understand life- creates a distorted judgement

restricted to what you can get with your money & your limited vision

Page 45: PDC+++ Module 2 Class 3 Visioning

A Work Centre

security

power

guidewisdom

you define yourself according to your occupational roleyou only feel comfortable when working

you make decisions based on the needs & expectations of your work

tendency to be limited by your work role- see your work as your life

limited by work models & roles, work opportunities, organizational restrictions, how your boss & colleagues perceive you, your possible incapacity to do your work

Page 46: PDC+++ Module 2 Class 3 Visioning

A Posessions Centre

security

power

guidewisdom

Based on your reputation & social status, or the tangible things you own,tendency to compare what you have with what others have

tendency to make decisions based on what will best will protect, increase or show off your posessions

you see the world in terms of comparisons of economic & social relations

limited by what you can buy or the social status you can acquire

Page 47: PDC+++ Module 2 Class 3 Visioning

A "Me" Centre

security

power

guidewisdom

constantly changing & moving

your criteria are:"if it feels good ...""what I want ... ""what I neeed ...""what do I get out of this ..."

you see the world in terms of how the decisions, events & circumstances affect you

your capacity to act is limited by your resources,without the benefit of interdependance

Page 48: PDC+++ Module 2 Class 3 Visioning

A Pleasure Centre

security

power

guidewisdom

you only feel safe / good when you're'high' on pleasure

you make decisions based on what will give you most pleasure

you see the world in terms of what it can offer you

almost inexitent

Page 49: PDC+++ Module 2 Class 3 Visioning

A Friends Centre

security

power

guidewisdom

Your security is a function of the social mirrorvery dependent on the opinions of others

your criteria for making decisions are:"what will they think?"you are easily embarassed

you see the world through "social spectacles"

limited by your social 'comfort zone'your actions are as superficial as the opinions

Page 50: PDC+++ Module 2 Class 3 Visioning

An Enemy Centre

security

power

guidewisdom

volatile, based on the movements of your enemiesyou're always thinking what they are doing

searching for validation & self-justification of those who think like you

you make decisions based on what will harm your enemyyou are contra-dependent of their actions

your judgement is narrow & distorted you're defensive, reactive & often paranoid

the little power you have comes from your rage, envy, resentment & vendictiveness - a negative energy that diminishes & destroys, leaving little energy for other things

Page 51: PDC+++ Module 2 Class 3 Visioning

Church-Centred

security

power

guidewisdom

based on the activities of your church& the esteem of those who have authority in the church

how others will judge you in the context of the doctrines & expectations of the church

you see the world in terms of "believers" & "non-believers"

your role & position in the church gives you an imaginary power
