Tracking & Cloaking Your Links If you’re new to marketing online, just take my word that it’s very important to track your links so that you know where your visitors are coming from and what is working the best from your marketing. Without this information, you could be spending time or money on things that aren’t working or producing quality leads. The solution is simple though, and free J In your promotions, you also usually want to shy away from using the actual raw referral URL that you were given. The main reason being that it looks like an obvious affiliate link, and that can be a turn-‐off for some people. You want to promote links that look clean and professional in order to help improve your click through rates (CTR) in your marketing pieces. For example, the link you were given for your Online Payday System lead capture page will look something like this: http://onlinepaydaysystem.net/prosper2012 When you use a cloaking tool like ViralURL (see below), you can set a specific keyword to use in the URL itself, like the example below:

It’s always best to choose a keyword phrase that would get the viewers attention and prompt them to want to click on your link. If they happen to be interested in working from home, then this keyword “WorkFromHomeJobs” would certainly appeal to them. So would “DailyExtraIncome” if they happen to be interested in making more income. Use your creativity and come up with your own to use very easily! What I do is create a separate cloaked link for each place that I am doing a promotion to send traffic. When creating a link in ViralURL you can add a Note to each link you make in order to remind you about where the link has been promoted. For example the link I create for my Backpage.com ads, I will type in the NOTES section something simple like “Backpage ads” just to remind me in the future. Same thing for each traffic source that the link will be promoted on.
You also will be given link tracking that gives you detailed information about which links are generating the most clicks and visitors for you. This is a very important habit to get into, and it only takes a couple short steps extra to make it happen. The process is called “masking” or “cloaking” your referral link. There are two options for you to choose from to accomplish this:

Domain Forwarding w/ Masking If you decide to display your landing page using your own domain, you’ll need to go ahead and purchase your domain, and have a hosting account. The benefits of using your own domain is that it eliminates the need for you to have to use long, uninviting referral links, and instead use a nice, catchy domain name that will get people’s attention. It’s also important to use your own domain if you plan on using some of the free traffic methods outlined later. Sites like Yahoo Answers frown on affiliate links and shortened links. Skip this step if you’re just going to use your raw referral link or a link cloaking service like ViralURL. To use your own domain, the process is usually pretty simple. You will be using a feature called “domain forwarding with masking” from within your domain registrar admin panel. To do this, just point the “forwarding with masking” to your raw referral URL. This process is
different for every domain registrar, so please contact your domain provider’s technical support or their help section of their website to setup your forwarding with masking. What happens then is when visitors go to your domain www.example.com, they will actually be shown the landing page you were given when you signed up for the viral list-‐builder platform, but they will see YOUR domain in their address bar.
Driving Traffic & Creating Referrals

Each post you make will contain your “signature” which you can edit to contain the link to your viral landing page. There’s no doubt that people reading forums definitely pay attention to signatures, and often click on one’s that possibly interest them. This has been proven for YEARS, and will always be one of the most reliable free methods to send targeted traffic to any page you want. Used properly, and this method alone can make you a very decent online income.
How To Use Forums Just like with any kind of marketing, there’s a right way and a wrong way to market your offer on forums. If you don’t do things properly, you can easily run the risk of having your account banned and your threads/posts deleted. It should be well known to all of you that it’s not appropriate to sign up to forums and start spamming your links all over. This will be counter-‐productive for you, and the results will be dismal. Not only that, but posting your links anywhere but your signature box will usually get your forum account banned. But by providing valuable, helpful content within a forum, will you be able to earn the trust of those visitors and readers who may be most interested in what you’re offering. Here’s an example of a signature line that I’ve used with good results. Keep in mind that you can use your own creativity to come up with something even more effective.

Then just use the button to add a link to the last line of text. Just that simple. To find active forums to join and participate in, simply do a Google search for something like “work from home forum” or “make money online forum” and you will find dozens of great ones to choose from. Just be sure that the forums are very active with a large member-‐base and lots of new posts happening. That said, here are my TOP strategies for using free, effective forum marketing: 1) Post Daily, Post Often, Stay Consistent -‐ Set a daily goal for the number of posts you want to make in EACH forum that you’ve chosen for your marketing. My recommendation is to choose at least 5 high-‐traffic forums and post at least 5 quality posts and 1 quality advice thread each day. That’s a total of 30 posts per day. By no means do I suggest doing the minimums, but instead set your own goals, whether that be 50 or 100 or whatever. Quantity is what’s important here, so that means you can post in sections like “Off Topic”, “General Discussion”, “Discussion Lounge”, etc. You can bust out lots of comments like this since it’s usually just casual conversation and goofing around, but since the ENTIRE forum is made up of the target audience you’re looking for (webmasters, affiliate marketers, internet marketers, business opportunity seekers), your sig will still be just as visible and just as clickable! 2) Ask Compelling Questions -‐ A great method to get tons of views and clicks to your signature link is to come up with a compelling question about internet marketing, and ask for the input from other affiliates and marketers. It’s best to ask something that doesn’t require tons of technical knowledge, or one that only a few select people may have a good answer to. Keep your questions more broad and general so as to attract input from more people. Also, to give you some good ideas on the type of posts that attract the most attention, just pay attention to threads that are already getting the most number of views and replies. View them and read the original post to try and see what they did to illicit so many views and replies to their thread.
3) Offer Useful Advice -‐ If you take only a few minutes in a forum, you’ll be able to easily identify many questions other marketers are looking for advice on. It’s one thing to just answer their questions in each post, but it’s quite another to start a new thread that addresses the problem and offers advice on the topics that are being asked about. This is simple to do, even if you’re a newbie internet marketer and don’t yet have answers to all of the questions being asked. Simply take the questions or topics and search Google for the answer. You can easily and quickly find the answer to nearly any question like this, and then return to the forum to post the advice that you just discovered. Just be sure to re-‐word it and not plagiarize someone else’s content. You may need read through a few articles on the topic in order to get the viewpoint of multiple people, and then create your own thread post based on what you learned. Remember -‐ it’s ok to take the appropriate amount of time to construct a good forum thread. Popular threads can stick around for weeks, months or even YEARS! That in turn will create a steady, ongoing stream of visitors to whatever link is in your signature box. You can now become a “trusted” member of each forum simply by researching common problems/questions, and posting helpful replies that offer advice. Depending on the forum, threads you create like this can stay bumped to the top of the list for days, weeks or even months in a row -‐ this means steady, consistent clicks and traffic from your signature link!
Free Traffic Method #2 -‐ Youtube Commenting Youtube is the #2 search engine on the planet, and the amount of traffic you can generate from it is astounding -‐ IF you know how to harness its power. There are literally MILLIONS of people who are on Youtube searching for topics like “making money online” or “how to build an email list”. If you have some relevant content for them in a short video, they will appreciate it, and likely click the link in your video description to check out what you’re offering. You can crank out several videos about popular topics in just a day or two, and then you can get TONS of mileage out of them for months and months to come! Do the work ONCE and get paid on your efforts for YEARS! Need help creating a compelling video? You can create high quality,
helpful videos totally for free. It does require that you be willing to research important/popular internet marketing topics and record yourself reading to them the information you discovered, which will help answer their question (audio only, not recording yourself on a webcam). You’ll just be packaging the solution they’re seeking into a slideshow presentation of the content you discovered when doing your research. Here’s what you’ll need:
1. Screen Recording software -‐ There are many free options for this. Click here for a list of 10 popular ones you can choose from to download right now. You’ll need a microphone plugged in if its not pre-‐built into your computer. A basic webcam will suffice for this.
2. Slideshow Creator -‐ The free OpenOffice suite has a program called Impress that will allow you to create great slideshow presentations quickly and easily (for Windows and Mac). If you need tutorials on getting started, just search Youtube for “openoffice impress tutorial”, or Click Here for the “Getting Started With Impress” PDF user guide. Now take the information that you researched and compile it into a slideshow. Feel free to use images in some of the slides to give it some added visual appeal. Once you’ve added a dozen or two slides, give it a test run to see how long it is when you read through it at the pace that you plan on in the final recording. The recommended length for a video is between 2-‐5 minutes long. It’s ok to go longer than this if needed though. As long as you’re providing good content, the viewers won’t mind watching it all. They’re mostly there to learn anyways.
3. Make the recording -‐ Once you’ve finished your slides, its time to make the final recording. Try and show some enthusiasm and confidence when recording your presentation, and always have the viewers best interest in mind. If you convey some kind of conviction about the topic and express your desire to help the viewer, your message will be much more widely accepted. And don’t worry if you’re new to all this, it will become much easier for you once you’ve done it a few times.
4. Upload & SEO -‐ Now just simply upload your finished video to Youtube, and use proper on-‐page SEO tactics in order to create an ongoing flow of new viewers. Use these guideline to help with this
step: Title -‐ The Title is basically your sales headline for your content, and is the only thing people can use when deciding whether or not to click on YOUR video or someone else’s. Make sure that it addresses a topic of major concern or interest to a lot of people. Also, I’ve found that including the current year in the title can improve click-‐through rates, as people usually prefer viewing the freshest, most up-‐to-‐date content. Something like “How To Make Money Online in 2012” or “Work From Home Online in 2012 – Get Paid Daily” Titles like this will certainly help increase the number of clicks to your videos. Description -‐ The Description should always include a compelling call to action (important reasons why they should click your link) with a link to your landing page. Tags -‐ Include any relevant tags here, as they are the same as keywords on websites. These help the search engines to determine what the video content is all about.
5. Promoting on Youtube -‐ Now is where you’re going to start sending targeted traffic to your video, which will then send traffic to your landing page. The easiest way to do this is through piggy-‐backing on videos that ALREADY have tons of views and are already popular. We’re going to accomplish this through some simple Youtube commenting on high-‐traffic videos. Here’s how: Just do a search in Youtube for whatever your video topic is about. You’ll immediately be given hundreds of videos that each have thousands of views. Now, just go to each video and add a comment about the video that includes the video ID of YOUR video. 6. Set Daily Posting Goals -‐ This is another method where quantity is more important than quality. Just getting your comments out there in as many places as possible will be enough to generate some nice traffic for you. So, choose a number, whether it’s 20 comments or 100 comments, and stick with it consistently -‐ you WILL see results!
Tip: I’ll share with you a little “greyhat” trick for maximizing this method and creating some good long-‐term traffic from this. Head on over to SocialHowl.com and check out their Youtube services. For a small investment, you can send Youtube views, comments, subscribers, likes and favorites. You see where I’m going with this?? Here’s a few ideas to get your creativity going:
• Send “Likes” to the comments you leave on other people’s high-‐traffic videos. This will cause them to become “stickied” at the TOP of the comments! That means your comment will automatically be seen more than any other comment. It can stay there for months or even years at a time also!
• Send video views, likes or favorites to YOUR videos. This will do two important things.
1. First, it will create more immediate interest from the viewers. Since people are naturally more interested in things that lots of other people are also interested in, they will be more inclined to watch your whole video, and click on your link.
2. It will also cause your videos to become ranked higher in both the Youtube and Google search results.
Free Traffic Method #3 -‐ Yahoo Answers If you don’t already know by now, Yahoo Answers can be used like a BOSS to create a flood of targeted traffic, and even some long-‐term
traffic when your answers start ranking in search engines.
This is done by finding people on Yahoo Answers who are asking a question about how to make money online or something similar, and
offering them a link to a video you found on Youtube that will help them (of course this will be your video). Just include your video URL or
forwarded domain URL as the “Source” of your reply.
Just have at least one video on Youtube that explains some general tips on making money online. Then just head over to Yahoo Answers (create an account if you don’t have one already), and then follow the steps
below...
If you choose to refer them to your landing page, it’s best to not use your raw referral link here, but instead use a forwarded domain with
masking, or a link shortening site such as ViralURL.
Free Traffic Method #4 -‐ Document Sharing Sites Document sharing sites are a little-‐known tactic for extreme traffic generation, and should not be overlooked in your marketing arsenal. These sites allow you to upload content in the form of PDF or Word documents, and can then be indexed by search engines and start receiving targeted organic traffic. Many of these sites are PR4 and higher, so the chance to receive traffic from them is very good. Also, Google seems to LOVE the “link juice” from these sites. Here’s a list of some of the most popular document sharing sites. Just sign up for an account with each one:
• AuthorStream.com • Docstoc.com • Scribd.com • Calameo.com • Yuku.com • Issuu.com
What’s great is, you can simply re-‐purpose the content you create for your video slideshows AND the content you create for your quality forum posts -‐ and turn them into PDF documents to share online! Very little extra effort here to make this work. You can even hire content writers to create articles for you, which you then take and just turn them into PDFs (after adding a link to your squeeze page and/or Youtube video) and then upload them one by one. Just visit the link in the NOTE below if you want to see the power of this method. Here is the process you would follow:
1. Open up a new document in either Microsoft Word or Google Docs. Copy the content you compiled for your videos into this new document. Format it properly so it is easy to read, and then proofread it for errors or mistakes.
2. Somewhere in the document, add a hyperlink to a relevant video of yours, and also a link to your list-‐building squeeze page.
3. Export the document as a PDF. 4. Upload to all the sites listed above. 5. Watch the traffic to begin to happen! 6. Rinse and repeat.
This method will start to generate ongoing, long-‐term and consistent traffic to the pages that you link to within your document. If you include a link to a Youtube video or your website in each PDF, you’ll get the added SEO benefit of the powerful “link juice” that comes from these high PR sites, which will cause your page or video to rank much higher in the SERPS. Just repeat this process for ANY kind of content that you create that can be turned into a PDF! Free Traffic Method #5 -‐ Ad Swaps Once you’ve gotten your email subscriber list to around 300 or more subscribers, you can start arranging for ad swaps with other list owners
that have a list near the same size as yours. In an arrangement like this, you would send their email ad to your list, and they would in turn send YOUR email ad to their own list. In an ad swap, it’s typically expected of both parties to send out a free offer, as opposed to sending an ad promoting a paid product. Here’s a few places to find ad swap partners:
• Warrior Forum JV Section • DigitalPoint • IMadSwaps • ListSwapper • Safe-‐Swaps • v7n Forum • Most internet marketing related forums will have a section for ad swaps or joint ventures (JVs). Just search Google for “internet marketing forum” or something similar and you’ll find other forums to find good ad swap partners.
Free Traffic Method #6 -‐ Squidoo Squidoo is great for posting content and getting good search engine rankings naturally, along with a steady flow of traffic from Squidoo members as well. There’s really no secret here, except for GET ONE! Once it’s set up, you will benefit from it for the long-‐haul. Choose a popular topic within the realm of internet or affiliate marketing (list-‐building, traffic generation methods, “making money online”, etc...) and then go through the process of setting up your Squidoo Lens. If you haven’t done this before, don’t worry -‐ it’s very simple and user-‐friendly. It’s even better if you have some Youtube videos also prepared that you can add to your Lens to give more value (or you can come back and add videos at anytime). TIP: Squidoo Lenses are free to create yourself, but can be kinda time consuming creating the content and going through all the steps necessary to officially “launch” it into the live Squidoo network. If you want a dirt-‐cheap (but high quality) option to have this outsourced, I highly recommend this service on Warrior Forum. For only $25 you can have a complete Squidoo Lens created for you, complete with
content and all. They even added relevant videos from Youtube to my lens for me, and all the written content was of very high quality.
Free Traffic Method #7 -‐ Traffic Exchanges Traffic exchanges can be used very effectively to drive visitors to your landing page, if done correctly. The majority of marketers I talk to have never used traffic exchanges before, or have only dabbled in them. Others are completely turned off by traffic exchange systems, and claim they don’t work. Well, I’m here to tell you that traffic exchanges are extremely powerful -‐ IF you know what you’re doing. But if you just jump into it blindly with zero coaching or guidance on what to do or where to do it, odds are you’re going to have a miserable time trying to make it work for you.
If you’ve never used Traffic Exchanges before, don’t pass up this massive source of free traffic!
For those of you who aren’t yet familiar with what a traffic exchange is or does, let me share... A Traffic Exchange (or Hit Exchange as they are sometimes referred to) is a great alternative for driving more traffic to your website -‐ although they aren’t good for sending traffic to an actual sales page, only to a free offer. Basically, by viewing the ads of other people's websites, you gain more exposure for your own website through having your banner ads and text link ads promoted to everyone else within that “exchange”. Many of these traffic exchange networks have hundreds of thousands of members participating! These programs provide you with a very powerful and cost effective way of :
• Branding your name, gathering leads, and even making sales • Learning how your competition targets their campaigns • Putting your product or service in front of a very diverse audience • Seeing what other products or services other marketers are promoting
Traffic Exchanges are member-‐based in nature, so you will need to open an account with each one that you intend to use. This is a simple task which you can complete within a couple of minutes. Additionally, and as the name implies, FREE exchanges cost you nothing to join. Traffic Exchanges operate on a credit system. Members earn credits by participating in a variety of ways, and then "spend" these credits website traffic by exchanging these credits for banner ad impressions, text links, and in some cases, e-‐mail advertisements. By maintaining active memberships in a few of the better traffic exchanges, you can generate a tremendous flow of traffic for any of the websites you wish to advertise. When used properly, these resources are an excellent way to promote just about any product or service. So now that you know the basics and what a Traffic Exchange is, you will need to know what types of exchanges to use. Manual Traffic Exchanges and Auto-‐Surf Traffic Exchanges: Manual -‐ These are the exchanges that I always recommend and use as you have to manually click on them and move to the next site after so many seconds. This also means that you have to see the page to click on. Auto Surf -‐ I have always recommended staying away from these as members can just switch on and leave it scrolling from one site to the next while doing something else, like making a cup of coffee or eating a snack. No one needs to actually see your page and in my past experiences, I have seen that many (if not all) usually don't. Be aware that you can have combination exchanges which use both. However, I tend to avoid these as well. Now that you are aware of the two types of exchanges that you can use, you need to choose between using a FREE or PAID Traffic Exchange. FREE -‐ a free exchange costs nothing to join and use. This is a great free advertising resource. (I belong to over 30 of these exchanges myself.) All the free ones also have options to purchase advertising credits, therefore bypassing the need to “surf” for credits. You should certainly look into this, as it is usually very affordable. PAID or PRO -‐ a paid, or PRO exchange as they are also known, requires a one time sign-‐up fee in order to join. However, this can be a viable
option because you know that every person who is using the exchange has actually spent money to join these. Again, speaking from my own experience, these produce much better results than the free exchanges do. But they typically have a lot fewer members and do not have as broad a reach.

Free Traffic Method #8 -‐ ViralURL ViralURL is the creation of Colin Klinkert and Frank Bauer and has become a household name in the Internet marketing industry. It is a list-‐builder with the opportunity to mail emails to the members of ViralURL. There are a few different membership levels, from free to elite. It can be used for numerous projects from promoting the newest products to actually building your own list for your Internet business and everything in between. One of the main focuses of ViralURL is to provide a link cloaking service. Which allows an affiliate marketer to hide and protect a long affiliate product link, and also provides click-‐tracking details. The next part of the service is the mailer system, where members, depending on their membership level, can send emails to other members every three days. I recommend you put in into your list-‐building arsenal at least a few times so as to create multiple streams of steady traffic to your pages. It’s also usually best to have your own domain to send people to when you use this method.
What is guest posting? “Guest posting” means writing and publishing an article on someone else’s website or blog. It’s a great way to connect with new readers and get your name out. But for the longest time, I overlooked this essential discipline and I wish I hadn’t. And I hope you won’t. There are three reasons why guest posting is such a key strategy for every marketer to build their online influence:
1. Guest posting builds relationships with other marketers • Bloggers need good content. • By being a good guest blogger and adding value to someone else’s blog, you’re going to build relationships with other bloggers. • Bloggers make up for a large percentage of conversations happening on the Internet, especially on social media sites like Facebook and Twitter.
