A note and a thank you…

The passion for our four-legged friends is clearly present this evening as we celebrate the 10-year anniversary of PAWS of Jackson Hole’s Annual Fundraiser. What started as The Fur Ball back in 2006 has grown and evolved over the years to become this wonderful evening of pet philanthropy.  When we examine the work we do, our efforts always begin with the people: A board that provides the vision and a staff that carries out the mission. Our business sponsors and incredible donors whose generosity and passion year after year is the foundation for our success. Our volunteers who do everything from walking shelter dogs and cleaning litter boxes, to planning and executing one of the most successful fundraising events in this valley.

And then, of course, there are all of the pets that we support through funding at our local shelters, financial assistance for spay/neuter and veterinary bills, education, mutt mitts and services which keep them safe during disasters and from people who perpetuate animal cruelty. They melt our hearts and fill our souls. We take them into our homes and they become part of our families and our daily routines. They are our hiking partners, our snuggle buddies and our unconditional support. We love them and they love us back wholeheartedly.

That’s why we’re here tonight. To celebrate, to say thank you, and to help our programs flourish through vital funding.We appreciate your presence here tonight and your passion for our furry friends!

PADDLE RAISE!This is everyone’s chance to participate in the auction. We’ll be raising our paddles and raising money to help PAWS fund our financial assistance programs for the coming year. These programs include:• Muffie Becks McDoc (Medical Care for Dogs or Cats)

Fund, which offers financial assistance for unexpected or emergency veterinary bills. Each year many pets go without proper veterinary care simply because their owner cannot afford treatment. The goal of this program is to ensure all animals have access to affordable veterinary care and that no animal is denied treatment simply because of lack of funding. Each year this program helps 65-80 individuals.

• The Ira Peterson Spay/Neuter Program offers financial assistance to residents of our 3-county vicinity. This is our most in-demand program and funds more than 800 free spay/neuter surgeries each year. Spaying and Neutering our local pets is the single most important thing we can do to curb the local pet over-population crisis.
