Dear Three Oaks Elementary Families,
It is time for us to start thinking about our Shamrock Final Mile & 8k teams. Every year Three Oaks is the proud leader of the
Shamrock with the highest total participation of all schools. The races take place at the Virginia Beach Ocean Front and are
scheduled for Saturday March 16th. To sign up for one of the races please go to www.shamrockmarathon.com or visit the
HPE website at www.3oakspe.weebly.com for more info.
Registration fees The registration fees are listed on the Shamrock website and are based on the race(s) that your child chooses to run. Be sure
to put Three Oaks in the school section when you register. If your child will be running the 8k, sign up for the “8k student
rate”.
8k Optional Practices 8k Practices will be on Tuesdays & Thursdays after school from 2:40 – 4:00pm. 8k practices are designed for grades 3-5 stu-
dents who are registered for the 8k race and have the completed permission slip turned in. Practices will start on Thursday,
January 10th. School nurses may not be available during practices after school. If your child may require any medical attention
other than standard issued band aids, please participate with them during practice.
NEW CHANGES TO Final Mile practices Please note a change to our Final Mile practices. There is no Final Mile practice afterschool this year. Final Mile practices will
now take place during HPE on Fridays during students HPE time. Please see HPE website for grade level schedules. This will
allow all students to participate in structured Cardio based activities in smaller more individualized groups we will refer to as
“Fitness Fridays”. Parents are welcome to join us for these practices. Students do not have to be registered for the
race to participate in Fitness Fridays. Our first Fitness Friday is January 11th.
Contact info If you have any questions regarding our Shamrock program, the practices or the race please visit our website
www.3oakspe.weebly.com which contains a link to the Shamrock site or email us.
