    401-.2 ANTI-STRIPPIN AENT.  'n# anti7stripping agent or additive if re%uired shall be heat stable! shall notchange the asphalt cement viscosit# be#ond specifications! shall contain no harmful ingredients! shall be added in

    recommended proportion b# approved method! and shall be a material approved b# the Department of 

    Transportation of the State in hich the pro9ect is located$

    CO&POSITION

    401-=.1 COMPOSITION OF MIXTURE. The bituminous plant mix shall be composed of a mixture of 

    ell7graded aggregate! filler   and anti7strip agent  if re%uired! and bituminous material$ The several aggregate

    fractions shall be si?ed! handled in separate si?e groups! and combined in such proportions that the resulting mixturemeets the grading re%uirements of the 9ob mix formula *@&4-$

    401-=. OB MIX FORMULA.  No bituminous mixture for pa#ment shall be produced until a 9ob mix formulahas been approved in riting  b# the Engineer$ The bituminous mixture shall be designed using  procedures

    formula re%uirements specified in Tables 0! . and 1$ 

    3hen the pro9ect re%uires asphalt mixtures of differing aggregate gradations! a separate 9ob mix formula and the

    results of 9ob mix formula verification testing must be submitted for each mix$

    The 9ob mix formula for each mixture shall be in effect until a modification is approved in riting b# the Engineer$Should a change in sources of materials be made! a ne 9ob mix formula must be submitted ithin G H da#s and

    approved b# the Engineer in riting before the ne material is used$ 'fter the initial production 9ob mix formula*s-

    401-4. PREPARATION OF BITUMINOUS MATERIAL.  The bituminous material shall be heated in a manner 

    that ill avoid local overheating and provide a continuous suppl# of the bituminous material to the mixer at a

    uniform temperature$ The temperature of the bituminous material delivered to the mixer shall be sufficient to

     provide a suitable viscosit# for ade%uate coating of the aggregate particles! but shall not exceed 1., degrees 4 *0:/degrees C-! unless otherise re%uired b# the manufacturer .

    401-4.5 PREPARATION OF MINERAL AREATE. The aggregate for the mixture shall be heated and
