Aquatic Therapy can make a remarkable difference after an illness, injury, or
surgery, when a patient's sensitivity to pain may be i ncreased or the ability to b ear
weight on the injured area limited. Water supports the body, reduces joint stress,
and provides both resistance and ass istance to movement.

Good Luck to all Jr. Fair Exhibitors

A breakdown of the 81 cents follows: 38.5cents, off farm labor; 8 cents, packing; 4cents, transportation; 3.5 cents, energy; 4.5cents profits to others; 4 cents, advertising;3.5 cents, depreciation; 4.5 cents, rent; 2.5cents, interest; 1.5 cents, repairs; 3.5 cents,
business taxes and 3 cents, other.
The farmers portion (19 cents) does notrepresent all profit. It pays for supporting
their families, input for next seasonincluding seeds, fertilizer andother chemicals; equipment,
repairs and depreciation,labor and more.
In Ohio, one inseven jobs is tied some-
how to agriculture. That isone million jobs, for a $98
billion industry in the state, according to Wilson.
She said that in the United States, the average worker spends 36 days work-
ing to supply a years worth of food. In com-parison, the same amount of time is spent onrecreation, clothing and accessories com-
bined. As further comparison, 39 days arespent to pay state and local taxes, 52 days forhealth and medical care, and 77 days for fed-eral taxes.
FYI: in the United States, 8 percent of afamilys budget is spent on food while the
percentages are 55 percent in Indonesia and15 percent in France.
Farmers shares of the following fooditems are:
1 gal. skim milk - $1.61Loaf bread - 16 centsBox cereal - 9 cents2 lbs. carrots - 75 cents
Additionally this year,
the Paulding County chap-ter of the Ohio FarmBureau is cooperating withWilliamson Insurance, AgCredit, Archbold Equip-ment and Paulding CountyArea Foundation to providespecial t-shirts to junior fairlivestock exhibitors andtheir advisors. These shirts
proclaim I care about myanimals. Watch for themon the fairgrounds.
This year, the Ohio Farm Bureau inPaulding County is conducting a FarmersCare, formerly Farmers Share, Breakfast. Itwill begin at 8 a.m. June 15 during thePaulding County Fair to express appreciationto the community. It will be served until foodruns out, usually about 9:30 a.m.
The meal is available for a free-will dona-tion in the Brenda Thomas MemorialSenior Pavilion.
According to Jen Wilson, local organizational direc-tor, the new concept wasdeveloped because it isgetting harder todetermine the farm-ers share, due to pricesvarying so much.
Were taking time to giveback to the community fortheir supportFarmers are pro-viding a safe, abundant food supply toconsumers.
What theyre doing is about producing agood product, and providing an affordable
breakfast to show they care, she concluded. Now in its 13th year, the event has been
well attended each time it is offered.Menu items this year are sausage gravy
with biscuits, pancakes, fruit cup, sweet rollsand muffins, coffee, juice and milk.
The farmers, whose efforts supplied thebasic ingredients for all these breakfast items, have been making about 50 cents for theirshare of the whole meal for the past five years.Store prices above that come from others in thefood provision chain.
Wilson said 81 cents of one food dollar goessomewhere else with 19 cents to farmers.

John Paulding Days reaches out to all interestsBy JIM LANGHAM
Feature WriterPAULDING At first, the
thought of being grand marshal
for John Paulding Days washumbling but not thought-pro-voking to State Rep. TonyBurkley. However, as the dayshave gone by since he and hiswife, Nancy, were first chosento be this years co-grand mar-shals, Burkley has becomemore humbled at the thought.
I guess when I started tothink about past grand marshalslike Herb Monroe, the thoughtof being selected started to real-ly get to me, said Burkley. Itold Erika (Willitzer, executivedirector, Paulding Chamber ofCommerce) that you would
think that with the kind of busi-ness Im in, I would be moreconfident about this type ofthing. This is a real honor for
me.When I think of grand mar-shal, I view some of the peoplewho have held that position
before. I dont feel like I amsomeone special like some ofthem, continued Burkley. This is quite an honor; younever think of yourself asdeserving something like this.
This years event kicks offon Thursday evening, June 6,with rides and concessions byD&D Putting & Amusementsopening at 5 p.m. and the grand
parade at 7 p.m.Following the parade, from
8-10 p.m., there will be a freeFamily Music Fest sponsored
by the Salvation Army ofPaulding County and the
Compass Youth Center ofDefiance for all three days.Other festival sponsors are
City Beverage, First FederalBank, Paulding CountyHospital, A Plus Propane andTime Warner Cable BusinessClass.
Once again on Friday, thingswill get under way at 5 p.m.with the opening of rides andconcessions. The free FamilyMusic Fest will also continuefrom 5-10 p.m.
Also on Friday, at 6 p.m.,children from the communitywill be invited to participate in
a Courtyard Candy Drop on thecourthouse lawn.
Kids are invited to line uparound the lawn of the court-
house and when we say go,they can walk around the lawnand pick up sweat treats, saidWillitzer.
Willitzer noted that anyonewishing to donate bags of candycan do so by dropping them offat the Paulding County SeniorCenter.
One of the big moments ofthe festival is the crowning ofMiss Paulding County at 7 p.m.on Friday at the Paulding HighSchool Auditeria. Eight girlsfrom Paulding High School andWayne Trace High School will
be competing for the crown thisyear.
Contestants include FelitaGuyton, Paulding; OliviaHoisington, Paulding; KylieBishop, Paulding/Vantage;Mackenzie Haney, WayneTrace; Hayle Simonin,Paulding; Alex Chandler,Paulding; Lauren Speice,Wayne Trace/Vantage; andMayah Nance, Paulding.
Last years winner wasBritney Rosswurm.
Tickets are $5 and are avail-able at the door, from contest-ants or by calling 419-302-3845. Over $500 in scholar-ships will be awarded to thewinners, with a 50/50 raffle for
the audience.Saturday morning, the fun ofthe festival will be incorporatedwith the Paulding CountyHospital Health Fair, from7:30-11 a.m. at the hospital. Those tests available to be per-formed include comprehensivehealth panel, thyroid screen, hemoglobin AIC and PSA.
Those who participate in thetesting are invited to takeadvantage of a Relay For Lifefundraiser breakfast that will beheld at the hospital dining roomafter the blood draw. The cost is$3.
On the square, John PauldingDays wraps up with rides andconcessions open from noon-10
p.m. Special pricing will be ineffect for Kids Day.The free Family Music Fest will
provide live entertainment from5-10 p.m.When villages have this kindof activity, it gets communitiesinvolved in things where theycome in contact with peoplethey wouldnt have otherwise, said Burkley. Its sort of a front
porch mentality where you getto know your neighbors andother people in town. It alsodraws in a lot of people thatcome to visit during that time.It might not be a large endeav-
or like much larger communitieshave, but it is a homecoming ofsorts, Burkley said. Its anoth-er opportunity to highlight thecommunity and its businesses.
