Does tomorrow look anything like this?
14,000 acres of Adirondack wilderness.
Our campus, which sits on the shores of Lower St. Regis Lake in the
six-million-acre Adirondack Park, has got to be seen to be
believed – Outdoor Life magazine named us one of the top 10 schools in the
country for students who like to hunt and fish. And Newsweek said living
here is like being at a resort.
Study in a region that encompasses everything from boggy wetland to
alpine forest, and contains a dazzling variety of plant and animal life.
The United Nations has declared the region part of an international
biosphere reserve.
Pristine waters and alpine forests.
Real-world experience.
Hands-on learning.
Settings to nurture collaboration.
A world-class playground.
It is also a first-class playground. Take full advantage of the hiking, camping,
canoeing, skiing, and other activities this area has to offer. We’re competitive
in soccer, volleyball, rugby and basketball – and nationally ranked for timber
sports, cross country, Nordic skiing, and snowshoeing!
We’re just a short drive from Lake Placid, N.Y., one of the world’s
foremost resort destinations. Here students have the opportunity to gain
real-world experience at several of the fine hotels and restaurants in the
area, which played host to two Winter Olympic games.
We were a pioneer in making experiential, hands-on learning a cornerstone
of all our programs. You can find students putting an ID band around a
sparrow’s leg; throwing an axe at a bullseye, in front of an ESPN
television camera; or shipping off to Italy to learn time-honored traditions
and methods of making risotto the way it should be done.
Head over to our website, paulsmiths.edu. You can find a virtual
tour of campus there, as well plenty of information about our degree
programs, financial aid and scholarships, campus life, and much more.
