Set up and negotiated new, comprehensive Purchasing Agreements with major sub-contractors (CEMs), achieving major lead-time reductions (40%), penalty clauses for non-performance, stocking agreements, cost downs (over $2 million) and other significant concessions.

Managed the overall yearly procurement of $110 million in goods and services including $80 million related to inventory items.

Negotiated new pricing and terms Agreements with major OEM supplier resulting in significant cost reductions ($500,000), assisted Senior Buyer with another ($250,000).

Oversaw the re-sourcing to new major suppliers of plastic/mechanical parts and found new viable alternate local CEMs for printed circuit board assemblies.

Established strategic plan, execution strategy, action plan and timelines for the department. Evaluated new sources in the Far East and made recommendations, accepted at Senior Management levels. Interviewed

extensively in China and hired a Sourcing Specialist to complement strategic opportunities and long term strategy. Managed the transfer of electronic assembly to Far East sources resulting in competitive pricing, above acceptable quality

levels of product and flexible deliveries. Encouraged and assisted (9) direct reports to find new sources for the product build transfer from Oxford, England to

Mississauga, Ontario. Achieved and exceeded overall department PPV targets for three years plus running, 2003 PPV total was over $2 million

against a target of $1.5 million.. Managed the Receiving operation, implemented system improvements. Directly achieved, over $5 million in cost reductions on a $20 million portfolio, over the span of 2 years, by negotiating

aggressively with present sources and moving to alternate local sources. Directed the department in the Far East quoting opportunities; electronic, mechanical, box build as well as OEM. Directed and utilized Senior Buyer talent to verify and assist CMs, where necessary, on pricing and availability. Worked closely with Senior Management on managing the day to day business, meeting customer delivery expectations

and implementing MPS, MRP and Inventory improvements in the Materials/Operations organization. Implemented full scale measurements on quality and delivery performance from all suppliers.

THE SMT CENTRE 1997 - 1999

Laid the foundation and achieved world class, global electronic commodity pricing with major suppliers through a consolidated cost reduction program. Chose the suppliers, negotiated, assisted in writing and set in place Purchasing Agreements with the major suppliers for customers such as the Dell Computer Corporation

Negotiated hard and aggressively during the process of working through individual quoting opportunities to achieve the most competitive pricing necessary to win new business.

1997/98 real cost savings totaling approximately $2 million on purchases of approximately $8 million of direct business. Also contributed to significant cost savings on multi-million dollar purchases through distribution.

Quoted all material for new potential customers. Material costing was generally 75% of final cost proposal. Developed strategies with sales and management. The resulting landed business was at least $100 million, as high as $150

million, all new turnkey (including complete box build ) business in later 1998, 1999 for a company whose sales in 1998 were approximately $300 million.

Awarded business consisting of numerous $5 million plus packages as well as a few $20-$40 million awards. Assisted in setting up and inputting a Supplier Management Database through Lotus Notes for all North American and

European sites to utilize. Negotiated with major suppliers to utilize Electronic Schedule Sharing through the use of flat top files over the Internet

and prepared suppliers to be ready for Web Enabled quoting while the company implements webPLAN for material scheduling.

ASCENT POWER TECHNOLOGY / CELESTICA 1995 - 1997

Found new sources to support Toronto, Kentucky and England plants with electronic, plastic and stamped part purchases for IBM laser printer power supplies.

1996 real cost savings totaled approximately $600,000 on direct business purchases of approximately $4 million. Moved expediently $2 million in electronic purchases from a major supplier to a new supplier avoiding production

problems in a worldwide market shortage environment.
