PATRICIA KENNY DANCE COLLECTION (PKDC), originally conceived in 2001 under the artistic direction of Patricia Kenny Reilly, is a unique repertory company back with brand new work. Vital and riveting, the company performs pieces created by Patricia Kenny along with many of the nation's most prominent and current choreographers. Formerly of the Parsons Dance Company, Patricia Kenny founded PKDC with the intention of bringing together a strong troupe of dancers; individuals who exuded passion and artistry in their ability to depict choreography in its most authentic light. The company's mission is to embrace both emerging and established modern dance choreographers, offering a home for them to create original dances and work with talented artists in a professional atmosphere. After several successful seasons and strong reviews, Ms. Kenny Reilly decided to place PKDC on hiatus as she went on to marry and raise three children. She continued to choreograph for universities, Circle of Dance Repertory Company, and local elementary schools in the years to follow. After a much anticipated relaunch in the Fall of 2012, Patricia has reclaimed her role as artistic director of PKDC. The company now enters its third return season in New York, offering again a fertile ground for choreographers and dancers alike to fulfill their artistic visions and share dance with a wide range of audiences. Patricia intends to continue serving as an educational and artistic beacon for Long Island which has become the new home base for Patricia Kenny Dance Collection.
A native of Manhasset, New York, Patricia studied with Jean Yienken Lee and Olga Berest and went on to receive her B.F.A. from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. After graduating, she performed, taught and staged works both nationally and internationally for seven seasons with The Parsons Dance Company. In 1997 she was awarded "best emerging female choreographer" by The Pennsylvania Council for the Arts and in the following year was a founding member of Kevin O'Day's company. In addition to her work in concert dance, in 1999 she performed as the featured dancer and dance captain for Romeo and Juliet -‐ The Musical choreographed by Christopher
D'Amboise and directed by Terence Mann. Ms. Kenny Reilly's choreography has been shown at The Tilles Center, The Duke Theater, Evolving Arts Theater, Riverside Church, Peridance, Chelsea Piers, The Dicapo Opera Theater, Adelphi University, SUNY Purchase, University of Massachusetts, CALARTS, Hampshire College, The American Dance Festival and at the Arcade Theater in Fort Meyers Florida. In 2001, Patricia founded and was Artistic Director of Patricia Kenny Dance Collection. Interrupted after three seasons by the birth of her three children, she left her post to focus on being a mom. During this time, Ms. Kenny Reilly continued to teach and choreograph at local universities and was fortunate to be invited by Executive Director, Elaine Lewis, to become resident choreographer and Artistic Director of Long Island's Circle Of Dance Repertory Company. After several years with Circle, Patricia decided to relaunch PKDC and reclaim her role as Artistic Director of her own company. She is thrilled to bring Patricia Kenny Dance Collection into its second return season in New York.

“As Artistic Director of PKDC, a modern dance repertory company, I am given the distinct
pleasure of not only creating my own original and authentic dances on our group but also
supporting and showcasing emerging and established choreographers currently working in the
field of modern dance and giving the company members the unique experience of realizing
many varying artistic visions as performers.”

“Unrest is the company’s newest piece and a work in progress. It is an exploration of the
emotions attributed to loss, grief and suffering on a personal level and grand scale. The dance
uncovers how people share common perils and Unrest is a platform where we may unleash our
thoughts and feelings and support one another in the process.”

PERFORMANCES: PKDC is available for professionally presented performances in a wide variety of venues. Our diverse repertoire includes choreography by Artistic Director, Patricia Kenny Reilly, commissioned guest-‐chorographers, as well as PKDC company members. The company can present shows 30 to 90 minutes in length. POST PERFORMANCE Q & A: A question and answer session following the performance provides audiences with an opportunity to engage the dancers, and often times choreographers, in discussion. Topics can range from the choreographic process to rehearsal experience, teaching methods, injury prevention, etc. An open forum allows for interaction that helps audience members and dancers alike grow together in understanding and appreciating dance. MASTER CLASSES AND WORKSHOPS: PKDC offers a variety of master classes and workshops to dancers of all experience levels. Classes are specifically designed to meet the needs of its dancers, whether they are beginner, intermediate, or advanced level. Dancers will experience the company's athletic and diverse movement style through technical instruction based on modern dance principles, the introduction of material from our repertoire, activities and exercises that encourage improvisation, or any combination of the three. PKDC can also make full length pieces available to programs that wish to have its dancers perform our works in their entirety.
SUMMER INTENSIVE: Designed for the advanced pre-‐professional and professional dancer, our Summer Intensive offers a variety of classes taught over the course of a five-‐day period. The intensive includes daily modern, ballet, contemporary, yoga and repertory classes taught by Artistic Director, Patricia Kenny Reilly, and PKDC dancers. Culminating performance takes place on the final day. Scholarships are also available.
LECTURE DEMONSTRATIONS: For audiences interested in the process of building dance pieces, lecture demonstrations combine short dance presentations with an explanation of how PKDC dancers and choreographers work together to explore movement. Gain additional insight into the process through audience participation. YOUTH CLASSES: PKDC offers classes to elementary-‐aged children, which serve to entertain and educate young dancers about the potential their bodies have for movement. These classes not only serve as a healthy and fun physical outlet, but they stimulate creativity and encourage cooperation and communication.
RESIDENCIES

UNIVERSITY RESIDENCIES: 1-‐2 weeks University residencies include master classes, lecture demonstrations, open rehearsals, repertory set on the student body, and a culminating performance(s) by PKDC. Performances are followed by Q & A discussions with the dancers and audience members. A one to two week residency is needed in order to ensure the students have ample time to absorb the company’s material in regards to technique as well as choreography and style. Most PKDC repertory pieces can be adjusted to accommodate the needs of the university’s program in terms of student population. Through personal interaction with the PKDC dancers and their participation in various activities, students will gain valuable tools to further enhance their dance careers.
