Sponsor Our STEM ProgramsYour company can help fund the development of Pathway curriculum and enhancement programs at the Ann Richards School. Sponsors receive invitations to school events, quarterly updates on STEM and Pathway projects and recognition on our website and in printed materials.

10th Grade Cornerstone Projects – $5,000«Funds materials for building and prototyping products, software upgrades, and transportation to «client meetings. Sponsors may serve as expert mentors and panelists for class projects and attend «Cornerstone student presentations.

11th Grade Internships Program – $2,500«Funds tranportation for students to attend internships at 18 local businesses across Austin. «Sponsors may participate in mock student interviews, host a student for a week-long internship in «the spring and attend internship student presentations.

12th Grade Capstone Projects – $10,000«Funds building materials, project management tools and transportation to client meetings. «Sponsors may serve as expert mentors and panelists for class projects, attend Capstone student «presentations and provide a venue for Capstone student presentations.

We are the only school in Austin ISD where 100% of students engage in STEM curriculum.

High school students choose one sequence of four-year-long courses in a STEM Pathway: «Biomedical Science «Engineering «Media Technology

Within each STEM Pathway, students collaborate all year to identify a community need, design a solution to address that need and present their final product to a panel of local professionals.«Biomedical Sciences students researched sports injuries and created an undershirt to monitor «and regulate body temperatures.«Engineering students gutted and renovated a 30-foot 1970s Airstream Trailer for use «as a teachers’ lounge.«Media Technology students designed a storyboard and produced a short animation film.

Students learn professional skills, resume writing instruction, how to dress for an interview and interview etiquette in preparation for a week-long, internship with a company in a STEM Pathway.«Biomedical Sciences students held internships at Dell Children’s Medical Center, People’s «Community Clinic and Planned Parenthood.«Engineering students have held internships at Gensler, Intel and Zilliant.«Media Technology students have held internships at KLRU (PBS), Amy Poehler’s Smart Girls «and Texas Exes.

Bringing all three STEM Pathways together, students work in teams to research community needs, build a working model solution and present a business plan to solve a community problem.«In partnership with the Sustainable Food Center, students created a mobile app with recipes using «locally sourced produce, nutritional facts and a grid map of local farmers markets.«Water conservation is essential in areas with periods of drought. Students devised a cost-effective «method to ensure school garden beds are watered through rainwater collection tanks.
