Holy Week is here. The Proclamation of the Passion at this Sunday contains a number of major themes. Here are three of the most important:

• God’s mercy. Luke 22:61, “the Lord turned and looked at Peter.” • God’s forgiveness. Luke 23:34, “Father, forgive them, they know not what they do.” • God’s promise of Paradise. Luke 23: 43, “Today you will be with me in Paradise.”

It is safe to proclaim today that The Passion is a love story. Jesus is God's love for the whole world. He came to “save His people from their sins.” (Matthew 1:21 ) At today’s mass, the priest will bless the palms. Because the palms are blessed, they are now sacramentals, which "are sacred signs instituted by the Church. They prepare [us] to receive the fruit of the sacraments and sanctify different circumstances of life" (Catechism of the Catholic Church, number 1667). Sacramentals should be treated with respect and never be thrown away. Keep and display these blessed palms at your family altar. Return them to church next year where the old Palms will be burned, and the ashes will be used at Ash Wednesday 2017. And she shall bring forth a son, and you shall call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

Semana Santa está aquí. La proclamación de la Pasión en este domingo contiene una serie de importantes temas. Aquí están tres de los más importantes: • Gracia de Dios. Debido a que las palmas son bendecidas, ahora son sacramentales, que "son signos sagrados instituidos por la Iglesia que nos prepararan para recibir el fruto de los sacramentos y santificar las diferentes circunstancias de la vida" (Catecismo de la Iglesia Católica, número 1667) Los sacramentos deben ser tratados con respeto y no deben ser desechados. Mantengan a la vista estas palmas benditas en su altar familiar, devuelvanlas a la iglesia el próximo año en el que se quemaran las palmas viejas, y las cenizas serán utilizadas en el Miércoles de Ceniza de 2017. Y dará a luz un hijo, y su nombre sera JESÚS, porque él salvará a su pueblo de sus pecados.

Tenebrae Service

(from the Latin for “shadows”) is a solemn candlelight and spoken-

word service which commemorates Jesus’ death on the Cross and the

darkness and despair which descend on mankind before his

resurrection on Easter Sunday. Tenebrae will be at St. Thomas More

on Monday, March 21 (Monday of Holy Week) at 7:30 PM.

Seven Altars of Repose Pilgrimage - Holy Thursday Night The seven altars of repose pilgrimage will start immediately after the Mass of the

Lord's Supper on Holy Thursday March 24. We will gather outside the gym/youth room to pray, arrange carpooling, and leave as soon as possible. We plan to return

for adoration at the final altar at STM by midnight. Our altar schedule will be available soon. We will join the Holy Rosary pilgrimage group for food and

fellowship during our pilgrimage. There will cheese, pepperoni, or sausage pizza ($1/slice) and water bottles ($0.25/bottle). Please rsvp with your pizza order to
