scheduled in conjunction with this one. Babysitting will be provided on request for both the evening and morning ses-sions. We ask that you please call the parish office and let us know if you would wish to have this service. While it is not necessary to “have a reservation,” it is important for us to know if anyone wishes to use this service so we do not contact them for nothing. A table will be set up in the church foyer with mission products, CD’s, DVD’s, etc. you may be interested in obtaining.

On Saturday evening February 7, two weeks before we begin Lent, we will have our Parish Ministry Apprecia-tion Supper. We definitely hope all of you involved in the varied ministries of the parish from our Parish School of Religion, our Liturgical Ministers, and the many others who minister in so many valued ways, too many to mention here, will be able to come with your spouse. We ask that you RSVP by February 2nd.

Finally, I would like to again call your attention to the poster and brochures on the table in the foyer for the June pilgrimage to France “In the Footsteps of St. Eu-gène de Mazenod.” The person setting up the trip for us would like to have an approximate number going by the end of this month if possible. If we do not have ten, the trip may be cancelled and your deposit refunded. To reserve, just give me your name and deposit and we will take care of the rest – for now at least. I would like to offer a word of thanks to Anthony David, our guest artist for the bulletin cover. Have a good week. Love,

As we brought the Christmas Season to its conclusion with the celebration of the Lord’s Baptism, we celebrated the day with our 70 Confirmation candidates who were confirmed 16 January here by Bishop Muench. I like the idea of celebrating this Eucharist with them at the Cathedral and then after giving them a brief history of the Catholic Church in the greater Baton Rouge area and a tour of the Cathedral. It seems good that as they celebrate Confirma-tion they are given opportunities to experience the larger Church beyond our parish boundaries. Many thanks to the families and sponsors who made the trip with them to the Cathedral. It was a good afternoon leading up to a blessed evening here when they were confirmed. We thank Gwen Richard and our PSR staff and teachers who walked with them on their journey toward Confirmation. They are a great group and will be a real blessing to those they encoun-ter in the years to come.

Our Parish Mission: This weekend, Deacon Glenn Har -mon will be preaching at all Liturgies (except at the Mis-sion), inviting us to come Monday through Thursday at 7:00 p.m. to the Parish Mission. + On Wednesday, January 28 at the 7:00 evening service, there will also be a Reconciliation Service. In addition to Fr. Raj and me, priests from the Deanery -Fr. Tom Duhe from St. Thomas More, Fr. Tom Ranzino from St. Jean Vianney, Fr. Josh Johnson from Christ the King, and Fr. Trey Nelson from St. Jude Parishes will be here to assist with Reconciliation. The talk Wednes-day morning at 10 will be different from the one given Wednesday evening and there will be no Reconciliation

R.C.I.A. Phase Two: The Catechumenate

Those adults preparing to enter into the Catho-lic Church have been dismissed at the end of the Liturgy of the Word. This will continue

until Easter when those who are ready will join us at the Ta-ble of the Eucharist for the first time. God’s Word is their only food during this period. The candidates and catechumens depart from the Mass with their catechist and are joined by their sponsors and team members after Mass to discuss the Mass readings for that Sunday and to experience more fully the impact of the Scriptures in their lives.

Have you been asked questions about your faith and felt uncomfortable with your inability to respond?

If you are interested in learning more about the Biblical foundations of Catholic teachings, this class is for you. We start over with our basic topics so now is a great time to join. Each class focuses on a different faith topic. Our goal is to be able to equip ourselves to give informed explanations of our beliefs. There is no commitment and no registration fee. Join us on Thursday nights at 7 p.m. upstairs in our new Faith Formation Center.

Join us on Thursdays upstairs in our new Faith Formation Center at 7 p.m.

This journey will begin Sunday, February 1 from 4:30 pm-5:30 pm and Wednesday, February 4 from 4:30-5:30 pm in the Faith Formation Center.

Immaculate Conception Invites You to a Parish Mission “New Beginnings: Back to Basics”

January 26-29, 2015 7 p.m. in the Church

We welcome back to our parish, Deacon Glenn and Linda Har-mon. Glenn and Linda have been in full time ministry for 23 years giving over 500 parish missions around the United States and Canada. With Lent fast approaching, this parish mission will help all of us spiritually prepare for this holy season and strengthen our relationship with our Lord, Church and one an-other.

There will be a different and additional session on Wednes-day morning at 10 a.m. Babysitting provided upon request.

Deacon Glenn’s preaching, teaching, faith sharing and music will challenge, inspire, and encourage people to deepen their walk with the Lord. If you think God is calling you to a Church vocation, call or email Father Matt Dupré at 225.336.8778, [email protected], or visit, www.diobr.org/vocations.
