TODAY’S READINGS First Reading — Jesus tells the disciples that they will be witnesses to the ends of the earth (Acts 1:1-11). Psalm — God mounts his throne to shouts of joy: a blare of trumpets for the Lord (Psalm 47). Second Reading — God seated Jesus at his right hand in the heavens (Ephesians 1:17-23) or Hebrews 9:24-28; 10:19-23. Gospel — As Jesus blessed his disciples he parted from them and was taken up to heaven (Luke 24:46-53)

“Message from our Pastor” What does the Word say? The time for church is a time for guided testimony and sustained by the Holy Spirit (First Reading), that is why the As-cension is the guarantee that God Reigns over all nations (Psalm); and his power is manifested from the wisdom and the hope that his body- the Church- manifests (second reading); thanks to the being “redressed from the strength from on high” (Gospel) A possible Actualization Being the feast of the Ascension of the Lord we cannot be try to understand a little better its significance. The readings of today express this reality in a language that is “elevated” and “with Vision”. God is revealed from life, passion, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ as someone that always has been, wants to remain and continues acting within man. The presence-action of God is the revelation of his quality of being Father, Son and Holy Spirit. And God is Father that is in the origin of life; Gos is Son that recreates, accompanies and directs that path of human life; God is Holy Spirit that remains and makes possible the love between mankind. The Church welcomes the life of the Father that Jesus, the Son, gives in his human life, is made present-testimony thanks to the gift of the Holy Spirit. Next week we celebrate Pente-cost, but today we renew our permanent commitment-testimony, until the plentitude of all times arrive: “and all things were placed under God’s feet and gave him to the church as supreme Lord over all things” (Eph 1:23) What does the Word say? Someone can ask themselves about the image of God, another about his relation with God. When we think of God, speak of God, Do we begin with the conscience that He is who we think of first, he speaks to us in anticipation, does he guide us in our search? Sometimes we get close to God thinking that he is far and we must scream so he hear and no-tice our existence. Another line of application could be my presence in the world. When I think of the Church, do I think in abstract? A Church I get close to in order to receive? Or, on the contrary, only think of “the Church”, do I look like church, body of Christ, pushed from within to be a witness to something? What do I respond to the Word? In the first place, think of your actual commitment in this world that you live in, family, work, neighborhood, parish community, etc. We await you for the Sunday celebration. There we will reunite with Jesus, again, to stay in our lives.

La Ascensión del Señor 8 de mayo de 2016 Dios asciende entre aclamaciones, el Señor, al son de trompetas. — Salmo 47 (46):6

"Mensaje de nuestro Párroco" ¿Qué dice la Palabra? El tiempo de la Iglesia es un tiempo para el testimonio guiado y sostenido por el Espíritu Santo (primera lectura); por eso la Ascensión es la garantía de que Dios Reina sobre las naciones (Salmo); y su poder se manifiesta desde la sabiduría y la esperanza que su cuerpo -la Iglesia- manifiesta (segunda lectura); gracias al ser “revestida de la fuerza de lo al-to” (Evangelio). Una posible actualización Siendo la fiesta de Ascensión del Señor, no podemos menos que intentar comprender un poquito mejor su significado. Las lecturas de hoy expresan esta realidad en un lenguaje de “elevación” y “visión”. Dios se revela, desde la vida, pasión, muerte y resurrección de Jesucristo, como alguien que siempre ha estado, quiere permanecer, y sigue actuando en los Hombres. La presencia-acción de Dios es la revelación de su calidad de ser Padre, Hijo y Espíritu Santo. Y Dios es Padre que está en el origen de la vida; Dios es Hijo que recrea, acompaña y orienta el camino de la vida humana; Dios es Espíri-tu Santo que permanece y hace posible el amor entre los hombres. La Iglesia, acogiendo la vida del Padre que Jesús, el Hijo, le entrega en su vida humana, se hace presencia-testimonio gracias al don del Espíritu Santo. La semana Próxima celebraremos pentecostés, pero hoy renovamos nuestro compromiso-testimonio permanente, hasta que llegue la pleni-tud de los tiempos: “Y todo lo puso bajo sus pies, y lo dio a la Iglesia como cabeza, sobre todo. Ella es su cuerpo, pleni-tud del que lo acaba todo en todos” (Ef 1,23). ¿Qué me dice la Palabra? Alguien puede preguntarse sobre su imagen de Dios, otro sobre su relación con Dios. Cuando pensamos en Dios, ora-mos a Dios, hablamos de Dios, ¿partimos de la conciencia de que EL es quien piensa primero, nos habla anticipadamen-te, nos guía en nuestra búsqueda? A veces nos acercamos a Dios pensando que está lejos y hay que gritarle para que se entere y perciba nuestra existencia. Otra línea de aplicación podría ir por mi presencia en el mundo. Cuando pienso en la Iglesia, ¿pienso así en abstracto? ¿Una Iglesia a la que me acerco para que me dé? O, por el contrario, más que pensar en “la Iglesia”, ¿me veo Iglesia, cuerpo de Cristo, empujado desde dentro a ser testigo de alguien? ¿Qué le respondo a la Palabra? Piensa en tu compromiso actual en el mundo en el que vives en primer lugar, familia, trabajo, vecindad, comunidad pa-rroquial, etc. Te esperamos en la celebración dominical. Allí nos reúne Jesús de nuevo para quedarse en nuestras vidas
