God’s Forgiveness is Always Available.

We’ve been studying the book of Jonah on Sunday mornings. One lesson we learn from Jonah is that even good people can become backslidden. Most of us don’t backslide suddenly, like Jonah did. Instead, we drift away from God little by little. We cut back on the time spent in Bible study, we neglect to pray, we cut back on giving, and eventually we drop out of Sunday School and Church. I’m thankful that, when we find ourselves in that condition, God doesn’t give up on us. He lovingly convicts us and draws us back to Himself. Sometimes he does something drastic to get our attention like he did for Jonah – sending a storm and a great fish to swallow him.

There’s a wonderful promise in Isaiah 55:7. It says, "Let the wicked forsake his way and the evil man his thoughts. Let him turn to the Lord, & he will have mercy on him, and to our God, for he will freely pardon." It doesn’t matter who you are or what you’ve done. If you sincerely repent and return to God, He will forgive you and make you useful in His service.

Your Pastor, Bro. Mike

SSBC Online Directory We have the Church Directory online at www.instantchurchdirectory.com. It contains the information from our last published directory plus our new members since it was published. It contains more information for our members including email (if provided), phone numbers, birthdays and more. It has been a great tool for our staff and church members who use it. If your email address is in the directory all you need to do to use it on your phone, iPad, tablet pc or pc is follow the directions to get a password and start reaping the benefits of it. Access is secure and limited to church members. You must get a password for each device you plan to use to access the directory. Since we have 2 services many of us see people we do not recognize. In this case it Is true “that a picture is worth a 1,000 words”. Many members do not have pictures In the directory. If you do not have your photo in the directory, it would be great if You could send us a photo to include in the directory. To get your photo included, you can send a digital photo attached to an email to [email protected] or leave a hard copy photo at the church office to be scanned for use in the directory (the photo will be returned to you).

Hey Sand Springers, We are planning our cookout for Tuesday, August 8th at 6:00 PM. For $8.00 you will have your choice of grilled ribeye or chicken, along with baked potato, coleslaw, dessert and drinks. We are planning on some entertainment and will let you know more info later. The

sign-up sheet is in the atrium. Be sure to mark (X) Steak or Chicken so can prepare the right amount.

On Thursday, August 24, we will be going to the Kentucky

State Fair. You can use the tickets sold at Kroger. I will have more information in the coming weeks. There also a sign up sheet for this in the atrium as well.

Blessings, Ellery
