Regular and Irregular verbs
In English there are two type of verbs which are:
* Regular A verb that forms its past tense by adding –ed to the verb.
• Irregular A verb that forms its past tense by changing the whole word.
Examples of Regular and Irregular Verbs
* Regular verbs: Walk Walked Call Called Visit Visited
* Irregular verbs: Go Went See Saw Leave Left
Regular in Sentences
• Verb + ed. For example: • He called me yesterday?• Last month, I visited Japan.• She cleaned her room.• He washed his car.
Irregular• Are the verbs that should be changed. For
example:• I saw a film last week.• Did you call Joe? • I didn't see a game last year.• He went to cinema last night.
Form of past simple(Irregular)
• Positive * I wrote * I thought • Negative * I did not write *I did not think • Question * Did I write? *Did I think?
Spelling when Adding (ed)
• After a final (e) only add (d) (love – loved)
• Final consonant after a short, stressed vowel or(l)as final consonant after a vowel is doubled
