Passing The Test | John 6:55 Therefore Jesus, lifting up His eyes and seeing that a large crowd was coming to Him, said to

Philip, “Where are we to buy bread, so that these may eat?”

Why Philip?

For some were supposing, because Judas had the money box, that Jesus was saying to him,

"Buy the things we have need of for the feast”. – John 13:29

Now he said this, not because he was concerned about the poor, but because he was a thief,

and as he had the money box, he used to take what was put into it. - John 12:6

Does God Test Us?

“Yet he knows the way I take; when he has tested me, I will come out like gold.” –Job 23:10

“Remember how the LORD your God led you all the way in the wilderness these forty years, to

humble and test you in order to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep

his commands.” – Deut 8:2

“Because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.” – James 1:3

“The Lord your God is testing you to find out whether you love him with all your heart and

with all your soul.” – Deut. 13:3

“In this you greatly rejoice, even though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been distressed by various trials, so that the proof of your faith, being more precious than gold which is perishable, even though tested by fire, may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Christ Jesus.” 1 Peter 1:6-7

- So that - Testing comes with an intended purpose. The Lord knows exactly what he

desires to get out of that time of testing [genuineness of our faith]

for a little while if necessaryvarious so that

Passing The Test

- For a little while - Testing is for a time that the Lord has appointed. He knows how

much time is needed for His goals to be accomplished

- If Necessary - The sovereign will of God governs all the distresses that happen to us.

He knows if and when we need them

- Various- testing takes different forms for each of us. Various- manifold- it looks

different for each one of us as the Lord sees fit

Passing The Test | John 6:10-1210 Jesus said, “Have the people sit down.” Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat

down, in number about five thousand.

11 Jesus then took the loaves, and having given thanks, He distributed to those who were seated;

likewise also of the fish as much as they wanted. 12When they were filled, He said to His disciples,

“Gather up the leftover fragments so that nothing will be lost.”
