Unprecedented versatility, reliability and scalaNEC’s PASOLINK Mx features h igh connect iv i ty and greater overal l operat ional ef f i

Hallmarks of PASOLINK

Small Size and Light Weight• World’s lightest, most compact microwave

relay systems

High Reliability, High System Gain• PASOLINK systems, including the new PASOLINK

Mx, lead the industry

Common Platform Architecture• Easily upgradeable from 1+0 to 1+1• Common NMS for all members of PASOLINK

series• NMS available in Windows, UNIX OS• Bit rate-free ODU/IDU

PASOLINK Mx Key Features

Software Configurable Radio• Modulation scheme: QPSK and 16QAM• Transmission capacity: 5/10/20/40 × 2 Mbps

Flexible E1/LAN Usage• Combination of E1 and LAN

32E1 or 8E1 interface and four or two LAN ports• LAN: Shared or best effort• 10BASE-T full throughput within 3.5 MHz (16 QAM)

or 7 MHz (QPSK) band

Flexible Modular Design (IDU)• Type of interface (E1/LAN)• Capacity (32E1/8E1)• System configuration (MODEM: No. 1/No. 2)

System Flexibility• Configurable for Space Diversity (SD) and

Frequency Diversity (FD) systems

Powerful Countermeasures Against Fading• Decision Feedback Equalizer (DFE)• Forward Error Correction (FEC)

Applications

Mobile Networks (GSM/GPRS/UMTS)• Backhaul links• Collection/distribution links from/to smaller BTSs• IP connectivity to facilitate future migration to IP

LAN/WAN Connection• VPNs (Virtual Private Networks)

1) Intranet-to-intranet (building-to-building)connection

2) Broadband access to public networks• Channel lease to the ISP• Extension to WLAN services

Fiber-Optic Link Backup• Acts as backup in the event a natural disaster

causes disconnection of the fiber-optic link• Enables system configuration between points

separated by natural obstacles (rivers, mountains, etc.)

• Serves as a temporary link for sites or facilitiesunder construction

Last Mile Solution• Easy, quick and economical solution for the last

mile link

NEC’s PASOLINK series (PASOLINK, PASOLINK+) of short-haul access digital microwave relaysystems is significantly strengthened with the introduction of PASOLINK Mx, incorporates a host ofadvanced features.

Traffic capacity—formerly 2 × 2 Mbps to 16 × 2 Mbps—has been increased to 20/32/40 × 2 Mbpsthrough the highly spectrum-efficient QAM modulation technique. The Transversal Equalizer andForward Error Correction features greatly improve link performance. PASOLINK Mx offers an enhancedLAN interface, affording you expanded freedom in network design and increased potential for newapplications. Moreover, all of these upgrades are concentrated in a downsized IDU (Indoor modulator/demodulator Unit).

Continuing in the great PASOLINK tradition, PASOLINK Mx is designed for simple installation andfast rollout, while featuring NEC’s renowned reliability, high-speed transmission capability, a highdegree of scalability and cost-effective operation.

To further augment your network’s efficiency, flexibility and overall performance, look no further thanPASOLINK systems from NEC. The only real choice.
