PARTS OF A COMPUTER(HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE)

The SOFTWARE is set of simple computer instructions or programs used to manipulate or control the hardware. These instructions are written in programming languages.

SOFTWARE IS A PART OF COMPUTER THAT WE CANNOT TOUCH WITH OUR HAND BUT CAN BE MANIPULATED BY USING HARDWARE.

Soft ware is the system, utility and application program expressed in machine language inside your computer.

Software is classified into two:

•APPLICATION PROGRAMS•OPERATING SYSTEM

APPLICATION PROGRAMS- perform specific tasks. E.g. Wor d processing programs, spreadsheet programs, presentation programs, games and simulator programs.OPERATING SYSTEM- is the basic software required which manages the hardware, memory, storage device, clock settings and others. E.g. MS-dos, microsoft windows 95, OS/2 and the macintosh system.

The HARDWARE is all the electronic devices of a computer system, such as the equipment and its peripherals.

INPUT DEVICES are used to enter data, instruction and programs to the computer using commands.

KEYBOARD- is used to enter text data.

Mouse- Is used to point and sick at any location on the

monitor of computer.

Trackball-it is serves as the mouse on laptops.

Processing devices-processed data and information fed bye the programmer.

CPU- is known as the brain of the computer. It performs arithmetic and logical calculations and controls the operations of other parts of thr computer

OUTPUT DEVICES- are computer peripherals that send information back to the programmer in the form of visual presentation, video cassette, printed pictures and printed papers.

Printer- an OD in which the computer can directly send the data to obtain hard copy print outs of the results in the form of black and white paper.
