“Parts  of  a  Book”  Riddles

Instruc=ons  

•  Have  the  student  using  the  Unity®  program  ask  the  riddle  using  the  descrip=ons  of  each  of  the  5  parts  of  a  book.  The  descrip=ons  primarily  use  core  vocabulary  words.    Have  the  peers,  parents  or  teachers  answer  the  riddle  with  extended  vocabulary.  Add  in  any  missing  words.  

•  Add  the  missing  extended  vocabulary  words  in  the  student’s  AAC  device  in  a  language  arts  ac=vity  row  or  page.  

Riddle  #1  

•  I  am  on  the  outside.  •  I  can  be  hard  or  soN.  •  What  am  I?  

•  I  am  the  cover.  

Riddle  #2  

•  I  am  right  here.  •  I  help  the  book  stand  up.  

•  What  am  I?  

•  I  am  the  spine.

•  I  am  on  the  front.  •  I  tell  the  book’s  name.  •  What  am  I?  

•  I  am  the  =tle.

•  I  put  the  words  together.  •  I  write  the  book.  •  Who  am  I?  

•  I  am  the  author.
