Big Brothers Big Sisters provides a variety of mentorship opportunities in support of children and youth in the community. These include the community-based, In-School Mentoring and Teen Mentorship programs. In 2016, the Youth in Care program in partnership with the provincial government continued to enable mentorship opportunities for youth in care. A variety of opportunities for wait list children are provided through regularly scheduled small group match activities. Big Brothers Big Sisters continues to be a key partner with the Alberta Mentoring Partnership. Boys and Girls Club (Club) continues to grow, particularly with respect to the community based programs. The Club has established programs in downtown Red Deer, Normandeau, Fairview, Penhold, Delburne, Elnora, Springbrook, Dawe Centre, Bowden Spruce View, Red Deer County,Innisfail and recently expanded to Benalto. The Club has continued with the highly successful Keystone and Torch Club programs, day camps, summer camps, adventure-based programs and some community partnerships with the Red Deer Native Friendship Society, Red Deer Museum, C.A.R.E. and CrossRoads Church. The Club takes great pride in its ability to engage community partners with innovative programs that ensure children and youth have a safe and positive place to go. 49th Street Youth Shelter (Shelter) responds to community needs by ensuring a barrier- free, safe and caring place to go for youth in crisis, and providing an outreach program in support of families dealing with parent and youth conflict. In addition the Shelter provides guidance and support to youth and young adults who are sixteen to twenty-four (16-24) through the Youth and Young Adults in Transition program.

Camp Alexo offers summer camps, leadership and adventure based programs in a unique wilderness setting that promotes self-discovery, life-long learning, active life styles and healthy relationships. Camp Alexo is located in the heart of the foothills west of Rocky Mountain House, Alberta. It is an accredited member of the Alberta Camping Association. In 2016, the ground work for the final stage was set for the replacement of the main lodge, the final phase of the Camp Alexo Master Plan. The community’s significant investment ensures Camp Alexo exists to positively impact children and youth for years to come.
