Our Mission
The March of Dimes is a national voluntary health agency whose mission is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality. Founded in 1938, the March of Dimes fund programs of research, community services, education, and advocacy to save babies and in 2003 launched a campaign to address the increasing rate of premature birth.

Supporting the March of Dimes helps save babies through:
Specialized care in newborn intensive care units (NICU)
Surfactant therapy Research into genetic birth defects and causes

importance of newborn screening tests and childhood vaccination
Progress & Accomplishments
Each year in the United States: About 500,000 babies are born prematurely 120,000 babies are born with a birth defect 28,000 babies die before reaching their first
birthday 9 million children don’t have health coverage
