    y PRINCIPAL ARCHITECT

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    High level management position requiring a high degree of

    independent decision making and professionalism. Within the

    authority limits delegated by the Department Manager, is expected

    to be capable of assuming complete responsibility all essential

    functions and responsibilities. Directs, coordinates, and exercisesfunctional authority for planning, organization, control, integration,

    and completion of assigned projects. Demonstrates advanced

    technical knowledge in architecture discipline and broad knowledge

    of architectural/engineering systems, architectural/engineering

    calculations, applications of architectural/engineering and

    construction methods, and architectural/engineering application of

    computers

    ROLES

    Some of the roles are:

    Project controls, cost estimates, quantity takeoffs and manpower

    requirements for proposals, forecasts and change orders.

    Project status and financial reports, and initiation of any necessary

    corrective actions.

    Proposals as assigned by Department Manager.

    Drawings, specifications, calculations, charts and graphs. Responsible for planning, scheduling, conducting and coordinating

    the technical and management aspects on assigned projects.

    Assist is discipline personnel assignments to projects.

    Review and approve technical design phases of projects.

    Ensure effective communication and coordination on assignedprojects between all disciplines and parties.

    Resolve disputes and conflicts related to assigned projects and

    Clients.

    Review and approve all Client invoices on assigned projects.

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    Architects design, plan, and supervise the construction of buildings. They are responsible for the safety, usefulness, andaesthetics of their buildings. They must design structures that satisfytheir clients' needs while conforming to the laws and regulations ofthe areas in which the structures will be built.

    Architects work with engineers, urban planners,contractors, and landscape architects. They may work for largearchitectural firms, or they may be self-employed. Some architectswork for engineers or builders. Others work for federal, state, orlocal governments.

    y PROJECT ARCHITECT

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    Performs administrative and professional architectural work

    by managing projects from inception through construction. Provides

    leadership to the project and the project design team consisting of

    architects, engineers and designers which includes coordinating

    outside consultants in the design of construction projects. Serves asthe liaison between the design team and University departments and

    faculty. Responsible for supervising and participating in preliminary

    studies and estimates of proposed building projects, and in the design

    and preparation of complete alteration and repair plans for existing

    buildings.

    RESIDENT ARCHITECT

    y Coordinates and supervises all phases of architectural fit-out works.Takes charge of fit-out process for the project to ensure they meet building

    standards.y Review all architectural aspects submittals, drawings, methods documents.

    Conduct inspection, material inspection and approval.

    y Inspect, monitor, verify, established procedure of design, execution and ITP`sprocedure- Project quality assurance procedures documentation checking and

    issue of project administration procedures.y Responsible for the submittal of materials with certifications and samples, shop-

    drawings, Method statement,RFI,Testing and Inspection Plans.

    y Inspects the construction while in progress and upon completion for adherenceto plans and specifications; advises contractors on the interpretation of plansand specifications; approves minor design changes in the course of construction;

    reviews contractors' requests for payment.y Verification of compliance to the Project Specifications., Working program.

    y SITE SUPERVISOR

    The site supervisor is responsible for managing staff

    members, ensuring that procedures are followed, settingperformance targets and communicating with consultants. The

    primary responsibilities of a site supervisor are to make sure that

    work is completed on the site, to ensure compliance with company

    procedures and to create performance metrics.

    Managing staff members is an important part of being a site

    supervisor. He or she is responsible for making hiring decisions,

    disciplining and mentoring staff members and providing training. The

    skills required include communication and problem solving.

    y DESIGNER

    An architectural designer is an architect that is primarily

    involved in the design of buildings or urban landscapes as stipulatedin the design brief. Architectural designers have good creative skills,

    imagination and artistic talent to be interpreted into structures and

    buildings. Architectural designers need to obtained their certificate

    through accredited school.

    Many large architectural firms have architectural designers

    that set what the general public views as the trademark of the firm.

    These firms may actually have groups of designers, often divided into

    their own separate niche markets. In smaller architectural firms, the

    architectural designers tend to remain involved with the projectright through completion, and actually take an active role in

    documentation and management, sometimes to the point of

    supervising construction.

    Clerk of Works are either on site all the time or make

    regular visits. They need to be vigilant in their inspections of a large

    range of technical aspects of the work.This involves: Becoming familiar with all the relevant drawings and written

    instructions, checking them, and using them as a reference when

    inspecting the work.

    Making visual inspections.

    Taking measurements and samples on site to make sure that thework and the materials.

    Meet the specifications and quality standards.

    Being familiar with legal requirements and checking that the work

    complies with them.

    Having a working knowledge of health and safety legislation and

    bring any shortfalls.

    Observed to the attention of the person(s) concerned.

    y CIVIL AND STRUCTURAL ENGINEERS

    Assist the Architect with specialist engineering worksrelating to structural and civil works or any other engineering worksas may be required by the Architect under the provisions of theContract.

    A civil engineer engages in many general responsibilities ona daily basis. These responsibilities are a crucial part of their job andenable the civil engineer to engage in their profession to the best of

    their ability. General responsibility of the civil engineer is to analyzevarious factors concerning a construction job. The civil engineer willanalyze the proposed site location as well as the entire constructionjob which is to be completed at such a site. They will analyze theprocess for completing the construction job every step of the way.

    The civil engineer must also plan the construction projectthat will be taking place in conjunction with the results they founddue to their analysis of the proposed project. During the process andat the end, the civil engineer must inspect the product to ensure thatall rules, regulations and guidelines have been followed.

    y MECHANICAL AND ELECTRICAL ENGINEERS

    ROLE

    Assist the Architect with specialist engineering works relating tomechanical and electrical works or any other engineering works asmay be required by the Architect under the provisions of theContract.

    An electrical engineer is someone who creates, develops and

    observes the manufacturing of electrical equipment such asmachinery controls, automobile electrical systems, electric motorsand communications systems. The electrical engineer overseesproject production to ensure it is on time and within budget. Theyprepares, modifies and studies technical drawings that include

    detailed calculations and specifications of electrical equipment. Theyalso need to provide certain documents to be submitted to the localauthority for approval.

    A mechanical engineer is a person who plans, envisions and

    tests equipment such as machines, tools and engines. A mechanical

    engineer designs machines that use energy, such as escalators,elevators and air conditioners. The engineer recommends the best

    mechanical equipment for the project and make sure it works

    properly. They oversees the installation, operation and maintenance

    of mechanical products. They also makes recommendations on design

    modifications to stop system malfunctions.

    y QUANTITY SURVEYOR

    ROLE

    Assist the Architect in the measuring and valuation of the work,materials and goods, fixed or unfixed, brought to or adjacent to the

    site and such other valuations that may be required by the Architect

    under the provisions of the Contract.

    Basically, the job involves Employed by the constructionindustry to analyze a construction project's overall cost regarding

    material goods and other budgetary concerns and a quantity

    surveyor also helps minimize the project's budget. Working on a

    construction site or in the contractor's main offices, the quantity

    surveyor performs other job duties, includingpreparing legal contract documents and creating detailed progress

    reports about the construction project.

    y SPECIALIST CONSULTANT

    ROLE

    Assist the Architect with specialist engineering works relating to the area or

    specialty or any other engineering works as may be required by theArchitect under the provisions of the Contract.

    KEY DUTIES: Performs specialized professional technical engineering work which may

    involve professional advice to consultants and clients, plan and permitreview, preparing and revising maps and standard details, performingprogress pay estimates and change of orders. Responds to complaints, requests and concerns, including answeringquestions directly and over the telephone; takes action in responding toinquiries and complaints, following established guidelines, policies and

    procedures related to specialty field. Performs field, office and computer-aided studies; performs field worksuch as conducting observations, Receives and responds to requests from developers, contractors, privateengineers, and others for base maps to assist construction within area ofspecialty.
