The one-day programme will equip participants with the fundamental principles governing selected issues and problems that arise in the construction industry. The course will focus on the laws and industry guidelines governing private and government contracts. Claims are common in the construction industry. They may arise as a result of delays, changes, unforeseen circumstances, insufficient information, miscommunication and conflicts. Various types of claims are evident in the construction industry. Claims may also arise out of certification – either delayed or negligent certification or refusal to certify. Parties who are also affected apart from the main contractors are the nominated sub-contractors, domestic sub-contractors and suppliers. Sometimes claims may be the result of negligent supervision or certification.
