!here are many but the most powerful were standing in .uschwit0 3nowing that my father and his

siblings were there: visiting !reblin3a: where many of my relatives were murdered and wal3ing in the

forest1

<eing in 2oland ma3es you appreciate the need for $srael=s e-istence more than traveling to $srael1 $ was

also ta3en by the lac3 of responsibility on the part of the 2olish people 4 they blame the Germans or the

Communists1

especially for the students1

!he March itself and the presentations in <ir3rnau were touching: empowering and beautiful1

What impact did 2oland have on you?isiting the camps: ghetto sites: mass graveyards and synagogues allowed me to 3now my murdered

cousins and mourn for them1 $t also empowers he to wor3 in the community so that "ever .gain is a

meaningful action term not a slogan only1

7ach camp was a different e-perience1 .s a young adult: the most impressive e-perience was loo3ing atthe irony of the trip1 !he sun was shining: the birds were chirping and the towns people we saw were

 busy carrying out their lives1 $t was easy to see how the horrors could happen so close to their homes1

Wal3ing and tal3ing with people from all over the world sharing this common bond of love and tolerance

$ saw a country that has more room without the millions who are not here anymore1 $ saw too manymemorials that said the people who died here not mentioning the 6ewish people who perished1 $ saw

more dogs with couples than children so $ don=t see a growing population1 $ also didn=t see the

homeless population that $ see in "%C so often1 $ e-perienced an anti4Semitic rant by an old

women and a sign held up by a few nuns that said we apologi0e1 My heart and mind is still processing it

all1
