The Sydney University campus and associated residential colleges, Prince Alfred Hospital and King George V Hospital dominate the visual and landscape character of this precinct.
A number of major intersections are found within the precinct including Parramatta Road and Missenden Road.
17.1 Precinct objectivesGeneral
• To enhance the streetscape with street trees of appropriate scale and form.
• To respect established street tree character.• To reinforce the residential character through a mix of
deciduous and evergreen tree planting.
17.2 Precinct conditionsExisting street treesMature Fig and Brush Box tree planting located around the boundaries of Sydney University and Hospital grounds form a strong landscape character of evergreen rainforest species plantings. Tree planting on Parramatta Road is very limited due to awnings and over head power lines.
There are recent street plantings in the new residential development on the old Camperdown Children's Hospital site that are performing well and will be maintained.
