The career and guidance club act as a nodal centre to communicate recruitment calls from private and
public sectors. Vaikom Management Association started a student chapter at College. They organize classes on topics like
Carrier Guidance, Personality Development, Current Affairs etc,

During the general body meeting of the PTA, cash awards and endowments were given to
students who scored highest marks in the University exams.
PTA fund was used to maintain the campus clean, repair the electrical and plumbing items,
maintenance work of computers and built door for Malayalam Department
An orientation class for UG first year students
PTA fund was utilized for the repair and purchase of instruments in Chemistry Department
It felicitated the students who made remarkable achievements in and outside the campus

The Department of English conducted the annual lecture series Sameeksha The department initiated
competitive exam coaching in association with Youth Welfare department, Govt. of Kerala. Department
observedHiroshima Day 2017 by taking an oath of peace. Vaikom Muhammad Basheer and Kavalam
Narayana Panicker Reminiscence Day was organised by the department Biographical Documentaries of
Basheer and Kavalam were unveiled before the students. APJ Abdul Kalam Memorial Literary
Competition was organized elocution and essay writing in English, Hindi and Malayalam was conducted.
The Mathematics Department released a Manuscript “227 facts about pi” prepared by the students of 1st
year Degree Mathematics. Charity Club of Mathematics department visited BUDS School, for
Differently abled people They performed different programmes for them followed by a lunch. The
department celebrated National Mathematics day by conducting a photo exhibition on the life of Srinivasa
Ramanujan. An Exhibition quiz was arranged for the visitors of the exhibition based on Srinivasa
Ramanujan.
The Department of commerce organized few seminars on topics like ‘ International Business’, ‘Recent
trends in marketing’, ‘Human Rights’ etc
The Department of Hindi instituted PSC coaching for their students. The students visited Pieta Bhavan, a
home for mentally challenged orphan women gave one day meal for them. The students also distributed
clothes for the children of SEVAGRAM where the inmates are cancer patients.
The Physics Department In and talent search exam association with Academy of Physics Teachers
(APT), department conducted NET model exam and talent search exam Department of Physics and
Physics Association observed “Kalam Smrithi by conducting an inter departmental science Quiz.
Department in association with KSEB officer’s Association, and Quiz club conducted “POWER QUIZ”.
As part of ‘Scholar in the Campus ‘ programme (initiated in 2013),Department organized a seminar on
“New Horizons in Einstein’s Gravity “ . Department also conducted a documentary film show titled
“Harappa to Pokran”
Department of Botany in association with Biodiversity Club celebrated World Environment Day by
planting of saplings of medicinal plants, ornamental plants and fruit trees in the college premises. As an
extension activity the department organized a workshop on ‘MUSHROOM CULTIVATION’ in
association with Koonpura, Thiruvananthapuram for the parents of students. In search of young talents
the department organized a ‘Botany quiz’ for the students of 11th standard of AJ John Memorial school,
Thalayolaprambu. The department also organized the inaugural lecture of the ‘ALUMNI LECTURE
SERIES’. Department released a book on campus Flora. Botany Department in association with the
Department of Forestry and Wild life a conducted a one day seminar on ‘KANDAL KADUKALUM
THANNEERTHADA SAMRAKSHANAVUM’
The Political Science Department celebrated Reading Day by conducting Reading competition.
Department supplied study materials to L.P School students of Mittayikunnu. Peer-Teaching was also
done in the school by Veena T.K student of final year politics. As a part of K .R Narayanan memorial
lecture series, the Department conducted lecturer on the topic ‘INDIA’S NEW ECONOMIC POLICY’.
As a part of Freedom Fest Department conducted a lecturer on the topic ‘FREEDOM OF THE PRESS
AND NEW INDIA’
The Department of Chemistry organized Ozone day celebrations by conducting seminar, documentary
film show on “THE ARTIC AND THE OZONE LAYER: STABILIZING OUR ENVIRONMENT AND
CLIMATE”, quiz competition and painting competition. The department in association with Nature club
organized a slide show presentation on “WETLAND ECO SYSTEM”, a photo exhibition on

‘WETLAND CONSERVATION AND MANGROVES’, a seminar and quiz competition as a part of
Wetland day celebrations. The Department, conducted a talk on “SUSTAINABLE FUTURE THROUGH
SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY”, a seminar on “THE NEED OF SCIENTIFIC TEMPER FOR A
BETTER, HEALTHIER FUTURE”, a photo-Poster exhibition on PSEUDO SCIENCE, Power Point
presentation , quiz competition etc as a part national Science day celebrations. The ozone Day, national
Science day and Wet land Day celebration were conducted with the financial support of KSCSTE.
Department of Malayalam organized a Koodiyatam demonstration class which was conducted under the
guidance of Pothiyil Narayana Chakiyar. Department organised organized a book fair in association with
NBS. The Department published a book with ISBN number, and released a book “ SAHITHYATHINTE
VAZHIKAL” edited by Dr Lalimol S. (HoD Malayalam Dept). Malayalam Association organized a
literary event in which the students and faculties presented their literary works. The Department organized
a literary interaction with the Vayalar Award winning Novelist T D Ramakrishnan. The Department
released book “ MAZHAPATTUKAL” written by the PG students and the a ‘manuscript” by UG students.
The Department conducted a seminar “PRATHIROODHAM” in association with Sahithya Academy.

The Biodiversity Club organized a green audit in its park Shantisthal.
Medicinal, ornamental and rare plants are kept in pots as well as in the marked out area in
the campus which give a beautiful appearance to the campus.

NCC took part in Haritha Keralam drive and took action to make the campus clean and green
NSS implemented Swacch bharath clealiness drive, e-waste disposal drive, and waste
management.
N SS initiated organic farming in the locality .Students were involved in tapioca cultivation.
A NakshathraVanam was established in the campus as a joint venture by Botany, Malayalam
and Zoology Departments.
Strengths: Teaching staff serving as syndicate, BoS members, subject experts,
Ph.D holders. Most of the staff of the college are involved in University
syllabus restructuring. Students won top prizes in sports, NCC events and
youth festival
Weaknesses: Delayed maintenance work of the college building Inability to
construct a compound wall in the western block.
Opportunities: Students eager to learn new certificate courses and join clubs
and very proactive. Teachers are oriented and refreshed in their topics and
on the verge of promotion.
Challenges: Mobilization of fund from management and through
consultancy. Training of students for arts and drama festivals
