Chapter 13Revolutions 1685-1730

Compromise

• Colonist except royal governors and their councils• Rhode Island and Connecticut refused • Compromise made people more willing to work with other empires • Governors began to bred within with many council now being related • Governors either got rewarded or punished • Persuasion and patronage were key• Crown ruled over all•

Chapter 14 The Atlantic

News

• Increase in shipping meant there was an increase of information flow• Ships brought more and more letters pamphlets and newspapers and

people felt more informed • The increase of information created more need for the newspaper • Newspapers were permitted after the 1700’s• Contributed to the integration of British Atlantic• Officials items were main points more over than local news

Growth and Limits

• There was a large growth in the number of churches the each had about 90 families attending

• Churches severed as social gathering as well as church• Females that were at ease to share there feeling remained full

member of the church as the number of men declined • There were rivals within all the churches • People started to worship a God that rewards for good

behavior instead of punishment for misbehavior

• From the perspective of Paris, America was a big let down• America cost more to run the it did to provide revenue • There was an order to withdraw • Indian became more and more dependent on the French and

there goods• The French need the allies fromthe Indians so the ultimate provide Goods for them

• The Spanish people commandeered the Pueblo by establishing the colony of New Mexico

• Hispanics capture the surplus causing reduction in trade causing friction

• Slaves were the biggest commodity• Nomads sought out revenge but killing and capturing Hispanic

and Pueblo people • Indian girl was the preferred slave • Captured at a young age most had no way of returning home

• Few people believed in national independence• People dread the death and destruction of the civil war • The colonist resisted the new taxes hoping that they would

just go away; but they didn’t• Main land leader declared independence • They greater the assurance the more clashing with the British

they had • Thomas Jefferson describe the US as “empire of liberty”
