The Parliamentary Leaders Program is high-impact, time-optimised and effective for leaders like you. The program was designed with input from parliamentarians and is based on the latest leadership research and values-based methodology, accompanied by 30 years of industry experience from facilitators.

This exclusive program for parliamentarians from all parties will strengthen and grow your capability to respond to the challenges of the 21st Century and help hone your leadership style and expand your influence through the lens of values and purpose.

ABOUT THE COURSEDelivered in partnership with Corporate Evolution, a world leader in values-based culture and leadership consulting. The Parliamentary Leaders Program is Australia’s first leadership program developed exclusively for parliamentarians.

This innovative and challenging program draws on international best practice from the Harvard Kennedy School in the USA, the Institute for Government in the UK and corporate leadership programs.

To create an open learning environment, the program is held under Chatham House Rule. Facilitators create a safe and trusting environment for a transformational experience.

By uncovering and deeply understanding your values, we will help you to understand your power, not only as individuals in the system, but as individuals who can affect the system. Through experiencing this program, you will become more authentic, empowered, courageous, inspired and inspirational.

Experience in previous courses and feedback from participants demonstrates that the most effective way to embed learning and hold people accountable to the decisions they make during the course is to have a planned check-in, three months after the course.

The two-day course is therefore complemented by a full support structure, including:

– Three months of group coaching (two hours per month, online)

– A consolidation and expansion workshop three months post-course (half-day, in-person or online), scheduled for February 2021

– An automatic membership of our alumni program.

ALUMNI PROGRAMYour level of commitment and investment in this program is entirely self-led and guided.

The first Parliamentary Leaders Program ran in 2015. We have five years of very positive feedback and a community of alumni that makes up approximately 8% of all sitting parliamentarians across all jurisdictions.

The alumni program gives you access to on-going support and a community of other motivated and visionary alumni who share your energy to transform the political system. As part of our alumni program you will have access to opportunities such as extended Values Coaching, workshops, and thought leadership as well as opportunities for changemaking politicians to transform the political system itself.

PARTICIPANT TESTIMONIALS

“The Australian Futures Project gave me a meaningful insight into my perceptions of myself, my role, my relationships, and provided a framework for expanding my capacity and the capacity of our parliament”– Liesl Tesch MP, Labor, NSW.

“Australian Futures Project will open your eyes to your own values and behaviours. The program allows open, honest and free discussion on topics that may be preventing you be the leader you are. “This is a ‘must do’ for aspiring political leaders and a ‘must have’ for the future of our country.”– Dr Joe McGirr MP, Independent, NSW.

“I’ve always had the powerful qualities required to deliver the change I want to see, I just needed it unpacked, explained, documented, conferred and re-packed into something useable.”– Anonymous, Federal.

“A valuable opportunity that all MPs should seriously consider both for personal leadership development and to prompt thoughts on how our political systems might be improved.”– Jonathan O’Dea, Liberal, NSW.

GUEST SPEAKERS

RALPH ASHTONRalph Ashton founded the Australian Futures

Project to end short-termism in Australia by

first understanding the root causes and then engaging leaders, experts, and the public to identify and implement systemic solutions. Before founding the Australian Futures Project Ralph spent a decade leading international public policy initiatives, working closely on every continent with governments, the United Nations, World Bank, business, academia, and non-profits. He co- created WWF’s Humanitarian-Conservation Partnership that changed how environmental and humanitarian organisations collaborate on large-scale disaster response, and he enrolled and chaired the Terrestrial Carbon Group that changed the international debate and action on unlocking the 30% of the climate change solution represented by agriculture and forestry. With a background in corporate law and investment banking, Ralph is Adjunct Senior Research Fellow at La Trobe Business School and has also held visiting positions at Columbia University and the Australian National University.

MALCOLM DOIGMalcolm is a founding Director of Corporate

Evolution Pty Ltd. which was formed in 2004

to help leaders transform their worlds through creation of high-performance team leadership and organisational culture transformation. Before becoming a leadership consultant, he had 23 years’ experience managing high-performance teams on oil and gas projects with multinational corporations on four continents. Malcolm’s unique niche is his ability to relate to the challenges that professional leaders face and his willingness to help them challenge their own thinking to achieve breakthrough results, both in their businesses and in their own development as leaders. He has been coaching senior executives in leading organisations in Australia, Asia and Europe over the last 14 years and is part of McKinsey & Company’s international network of transformational facilitators.

CHLOË SPACKMANChloë brings over 10 years of experience

AUSTRALIAN FUTURES PROJECT: Making the future Australia wantsOur country is not maximising and sharing its success across current and future generations. The longer this continues the worse the long-term prospects for Australia become. So we are dedicated to understanding and improving how Australia makes its future.

Through rigorous analysis of what experts and the public tell us, we paint a clear picture of the future Australians want and track Australia’s progress. We focus on the decision-making system not the decisions themselves – we call this the ‘how’. And it hasn’t kept pace with a rapidly changing world.

The result has been poor outcomes on almost all of the big issues – these issues are the ‘what’. We believe that if we improve how we make decisions in this country it will act as a turbo-charger for everyone focused on what those decisions need to be.

This is a big task. It requires courage, resolve and humility. Courage to enable difficult conversations, resolve to persist and humility to embrace the reality that the best thinking can come from anywhere.

We are optimistic and believe this can, and will, be achieved by 2030. Together, we can make the future Australia wants.
