Care to call us Home?Welcome to ParkvilleParkville is a purpose-built, residential care
centre just a short walk from
Middlesbrough’s thriving town centre,
providing personalised care in a modern but
homely environment.
We aim to help older people to continue
living independent and active lives as part of
a small, like-minded community within the
wider community, while at the same time
benefiting from the care and support of an
experienced and dedicated team of nursing
and care staff.
We invite you to explore our website, where
we tell you more about Parkville and the
people who work here – but there is no
substitute for seeing for yourself, so we
invite you to contact us and arrange a visit.
About ParkvilleParkville is a care centre providing facilities
to accommodate residential elderly and
residential EMI service users, offering both
short and long-stay accommodation, as well
as respite and day care.
We are located on Walpole Street, just a few
minutes from Middlesbrough’s thriving town
centre and a short walk from most local
amenities, including shops, church, medical
centre, supermarket, library and public
transport.
Parkville is a purpose-built, two-storey
building providing space, comfort and
modern convenience, while furnished to feel
“just like home”.
Corridors are wide to facilitate wheelchair
access and the home has lifts and ramps to
ensure it is wholly disabled friendly.
We have 94 rooms, all decorated and
furnished to a very high standard and each
one with its own en-suite, some with
showers, as well as 24-hour nurse call
system, and TV and telephone points.
Each room allows residents the choice of
privacy, or the ability to “step outside” into a
range of communal rooms, including
lounges, dining room, activity room and
even a cinema room, as well as assisted
bathrooms/shower rooms.
Outside, there is an attractively landscaped
garden area and ample parking for visiting
family and friends.
Life at ParkvilleLife at Parkville is all about ensuring our
service users feel comfortable, feel cared for
and feel involved. Activity and participation
is encouraged, but privacy and individuality
is respected.
Meals are taken “as a family”. A healthy diet
is ensured thanks to “home-cooked”,
nutritionally-balanced foods and we are
happy to take into account special dietary
requirements.
Every effort is made to help our service
users retain links with the community,
family and friends. Group social outings take
place on a regular basis, including trips to
the seaside, theatre and nearby shopping
precinct.
As well as regular GP visits, we arrange
regular visits from dentists, opticians,
hairdressers and therapists, as well as the
library service and local priest. We also
provide a personal laundry service.
Entertainment is organised by the Centre’s
Activities Co-ordinator, and ranges from
discussions, music and arts and crafts to an
annual garden fete and Christmas/Easter
fayre. Service users are also helped to
continue hobbies and develop new interests.
Focus on QualityParkville Care Centre is focused on
providing the highest standards of care to
meet each service user’s individual needs.
To achieve this, it is committed to giving
staff the training and support that will help
them reach their personal development
goals, while keeping the needs of service
users at the heart of that training.
Each service user has an individual care plan
which is discussed and compiled with them,
their family and, where appropriate, their
doctor, and which is the basis for a daily care
programme.
This person-centred approach takes account
of health care needs, medication, therapeutic
requirements, as well as preferred routines,
social interests, likes and dislikes, ensuring
your specific needs are catered for.
Each service user is allocated a key worker,
who is responsible for monitoring and
reviewing the care plan on an ongoing basis.
The Centre Manager operates an open-door
policy and encourages communication and
relationship building with all members of the
care team, servicer users and their relatives.
The Parkville CommitmentAt Parkville, we aim to provide a high
quality caring environment, not just in the
eyes of the regulatory bodies that audit and
evaluate the services we provide, but more
importantly in the hearts and minds of the
customers who use them - our service users.
They are, and always will be, our first and
most important priority.
All service users are assured that they will
be treated with respect and dignity according
to their individual needs and wishes.
Parkville operates a strong diversity policy
in respect of residents and is committed to
ensuring no one is excluded on the ground of
their ethnicity, religion or culture.
We want service users to have the freedom
to live their preferred lifestyle, with the
choice of independence or participation,
individuality or community.
Our aim is to provide a level of care and
support that meets the needs of the whole
person, and by that we mean the physical,
psychological, social and spiritual wellbeing
of the service user we care for.
But above all, we aim to do all this in a safe,
comfortable and homely environment.
Our care pledge:● To offer skilled care to help service users
achieve your optimum state of health and
wellbeing
● To treat service users, their visitors,
relatives and friends with dignity and respect
● To uphold the human and citizenship
rights of all who live, work and visit here
● To support individual rights to choice and
personal decision-making
● To respect individual requirements for
privacy at all times and to treat all
information relating to individuals in a
confidential manner
● To recognise individual needs for personal
fulfilment and to provide you with
individualised programmes of meaningful
activity

Choice of Care at Parkville
Long-term Elderly Care
Parkville is designed as a home-from-home,
so that service users who are finding it
increasingly difficult to care for themselves
at home, can receive the high-quality care
and support they need while still enjoying a
level of independence.
Residential
As a residential elderly care centre, Parkville
has been set up to provide secure,
comfortable and well-equipped
accommodation. Service users have their
own room, with the added privacy of en-
suite toilet and bathroom. They are provided
with meals and any help they require with
personal care, such as bathing and dressing,
while staff are available 24 hours a day.
EMI
Staff at Parkville do not believe dementia
should prevent someone from leading a full
and active life. As a specialist EMI Centre,
we provide 24-hour care in a safe and secure
environment for people who are confused.
Various techniques are used to keep our
service users active, including exercise,
music and reminiscence therapy.
Short-term Respite Care
A temporary stay at Parkville can provide a
welcome break for the individual or their
carer:
● Care while recovering after illness or
hospital stay
● Support for the newly disabled
● A break (respite care) for individuals being
cared in their own home, or for their carer
● A break for people living alone enabling
them to access support while continuing to
live independently
● An opportunity to experience Parkville to
see if it meets an individual’s requirements
for permanent care
