WEEK 1 TERM 3 Commencing Tuesday 23rd July 2019

Welcome to what will be another vibrant and exciting term at Parkview Public School. We have so much to enjoy and so many varied experiences for our children to engage with so I encourage everyone to closely examine the detailed calendar distributed separately to today’s newsletter and prepare for a massive term! As we start the new term it is timely to reflect upon what was a jam packed conclusion to Term 2. There were many events to celebrate including the Term 2 Reward Experiences which saw over 400 students earn the right to attend the amazing Leeton High School Musical Back to the 80s. It would be wonderful if we could see every student enjoy the Term 3 Reward Experience in September! The final week of the term was highlighted by a wonderful School Athletics Carnival at the LHS Ovals. The participation of the students was complimented by outstanding sportsmanship throughout the two days and was also underlined by wonderful support from a large contingent of parents and carers who acted as officials and spectators at the event. Freeman House won a thrilling Overall Pointscore Trophy from Thorpe House. Full details are contained in Talking Sport. The final week of the term and the School Holidays presented multiple opportunities for our school to share with the broader Leeton community celebrations for NAIDOC Week. Our students were prominent in all of these celebrations including at the Leeton Shire Council Flag Raising Ceremony where our student art work was displayed (pictured). During the holidays our students were also wonderful representatives for our community, with our Wiradjuri Dance Group performing in front of 300 people at the Leeton Local Aboriginal Land Council’s NAIDOC Week Celebrations in Gossamer Park. Thanks is extended to all community memebers who attended this event to support the children enjoy what was a very successful event. There is much to consider as we commence the new term. Please consider the following over the page as you plan the rest of your week: Semester PLP Conferences Semester 1 Reports for all students were distributed last term on Wednesday, 3rd July. TALKING SPORT – WEEK 1, TERM 3

NSWPSSA Cross Country Championships Amanda Hopkins and Xavier Johnstone will travel to Sydney this Friday to represent Riverina at the NSWPSSA Cross Country Championships at Sydney Motorsport Park. Both students qualified for this event following stand out

performances for LNPSSA at the Riverina Championships held in Gundagai in June. A livestream of the event will be available during the day which will be shared through our School Facebook Page. We wish both competitors all the best for an amazing experience.

Parkview PS Athletics Carnival

Freeman House have snapped a 4 year winless streak in all events to take the title at a thrilling Parkview Public School Athletics Carnival held at the LHS Ovals recently. On the back of some impressive all round performances and powered by some brilliant relay results, Freeman broke clear of a tenacious Thorpe House to hold aloft the Leeton Trophy and Gift Centre Shield for Champion Athletics House. Yet again Parkview students produced performances for the ages, with two records broken across two days of action typified by outstanding application and sportsmanship. Tallis McMillan added his name to the record books in the Senior Boys Long Jump adding 27cm to the existing record landing a jump of 4.22m just minutes after Kobe O'Callaghan had provisionally broken the existing record by 3cm. In Senior High Jump it was O'Callaghan's turn to join the history books clearing 1.36m and in the process equaling a record that has stood for 22 years! In front of a huge crowd of supportive spectators over 50 students qualified to represent the school at the Leeton-Narrandera PSSA Athletics Carnival to be hosted on August 16th.
