A Dozen Roses

I got a dozen roses from a friend the other day;

But I only have one left, for I gave them all away.

I gave one to my mother, who to me is very dear.

In hopes that it will bring to her a little floral cheer.

I took one to a friend

who’s not feeling very well; The flower or the visit –

which helped more I could not tell.

One went to a friend I haven’t known for very long.

She struggles, so in some small way I hope it helps her carry on.

The rest went to the ones

who’ve helped me in so many ways; They have been a cheerful presence

on my very dreary days.

The roses were so pretty I just could not keep them all,

Except one single bud standing beautiful and tall.

My friend gave me the flowers

to help brighten up my day, But the biggest joy I received

was giving them away.

Volunteer Corner…. By Bernice Middlestead

Message for Park Manor Volunteers …. Greetings to all … As I write this today I am reminded that today is February 2, Groundhog Day and I understand that the little fellow did not see his shadow, predicting only six more weeks of winter. I don’t know about that but we can hope! It has been an unusually mild January but we have had our share of illnesses. As you all know we have been shut down twice due to outbreaks. We have had to ask volunteers and families to stay away so we could better contain it. It has been difficult on our residents so they will be looking forward to seeing all of you again and having everything go back to normal. Not only have the residents missed our volunteers but so have the staff. It’s pretty dull around here without your smiling faces. So I hope you got all caught up with errands at home because as soon as possible we will be calling you back, and it can’t come too soon.

Happy Valentine’s Day, Take Care and God Bless.

Volunteers: Our Valentine Treasures

Valentine treasures are people who

have often crossed your mind,

family, friends and others, too,

who in your life have shined

the warmth of love or a spark of light

that makes you remember them;

no matter how long since

you’ve actually met,

each one is a luminous gem

who gleams and glows in your memory,

bringing special pleasures,

and that’s why this Valentine

comes to you:

You’re one of those sparkling treasures!

Hello, Hello, Hello …

From the Adult Day Program

We hope everyone is having a good 2015. At the ADP we’ve been keeping busy.

The Monday and Friday groups went out for lunch at Perkins, and Wednesday’s group went to the Olive Garden. It’s always a treat to go out for good food with nice people.

Some of the groups made their own individual apple crisps and we supplied the ice cream. There’s nothing like warm apple crisp straight from the oven! Mmmmmm

Tuesday’s group did some woodworking projects. Some of the other groups played dominoes, darts, card bingo and our marble game. We also tried some “Snowball Games” using cotton balls and tissue paper for snow balls. Thanks to Merv and Bob for their help.

Wishing everyone a good February and an early Spring (according to Winnipeg Willow)!

From the ADP Staff

Lost & Found Park Manor Care does keep items that turn up without an owner and we hold them in a lost & found stash - typically clothing items. If you or someone you know has lost anything, please stop by the office to see if we have it. We also plan to put these items out in the lobby in the near future, so you can easily check on your way into the home.
