FRIENDSHIP MEAL ….. TODAY

Sunday, November 17th at 4:30 p.m. (Coffee served at 4:00 p.m.) and is being hosted by

Associates of the Sisters of St. Joseph All Parishioners are cordially invited to come, sit with Jesus as He reveals Himself in the face of the poor, and dine with Him here as a foretaste of the Heavenly Banquet.

Love then by its nature is social.

Its greatest happiness is to gird its loins and serve the banquet of life.

Its greatest unhappiness is to be denied the joy of sacrifice for others.

That is why in the face of pain, love seeks to unburden the sufferer and take his pain, and

that is why in the face of sin, love seeks to atone for the injus%ce of him who sinned.

—Ven. Fulton J. Sheen

“We cannot be indifferent to the tragedy of old and new forms of poverty, to the bleak isolation, contempt and discrimination experienced by those who do not belong to ‘our group,”’

Francis said. “We cannot remain insensitive, our hearts deadened, before the misery of so many innocent people. We must not fail to weep. We must not fail to respond.” Pope Francis

Sault Ste. Marie is continuing to welcome new families who have had to flee war in their home countries. The Refugee Assistance Program (R.A.P) at the Sault Community Career Centre (SCCC) provides settlement assistance to government-sponsored refugees. Brenda Cooper is a volunteer who coordinates other volunteers to walk with the newcomer families and help them adjust to the new and bewildering culture they find in Canada. One of our volunteers, Murray Clark, expressed his experiences and feelings about volunteering with newcomers in an online article. Please check it out at https://www.sootoday.com/helpers/working-with-newcomers-has-done-away-with-notion-of-them-and-us-for-local-volunteer-1721687 Brenda is looking for more volunteers. Calling all young people!Calling all young people!Calling all young people!Calling all young people! You have said YES at your confirmation!

You have opened your heart at reconciliation! Or you just love to sing or play an instrument!

What to do now? One way is to let your voice be heard! Let your instrument be played! Take a leap of faith and share your musical talent. The Youth Music Group leads the congregation into songs of praise and worship.

Join us every 3rd Sunday of the month at the 11am mass. Please contact Franceline 705-946-1377.

Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen a champion for life, encouraged people to

spiritually adopt a child in the womb and pray for that child for

9 months. “It is said that although the identity of the child you pray for

will be unknown to you during your earthly life, there is hope that you

will be united to that child forever in Heaven”.

To answer this call, there are slips at the entrance of the church on which to

write the chosen name of your baby for whom you will be praying. A Mass for

these babies will take place in December. “

A great prayer for life is urgently needed, a prayer which will rise up throughout the world”. Pope John Paul II (The Gospel of Life)

Winter Woollies

For the past 6 years we have been sending our shipment of winter woollies to communities north of Thunder Bay through Fr. Larry Kroker, a parish priest in Thunder Bay. However, we are no longer able to ship there due to the recent passing of Fr. Larry Kroker. There is a community close to the Manitoba border called North Spirit Lake who has been experiencing many difficulties these past few months and a call was put out for warm clothing among other needs. We, therefore, have shipped 10 boxes through the courtesy of Bearskin Airlines, up to this community. Thank you to all our winter woolly knitters for the beautiful knitted items you have donated. We have been assured that they will be very much appreciated! God Bless!
