Under Construction

Thank you to all of our Parishioners who have played a role in our transition this month. Your cooperation and assistance in making “church” happen for St. Vincent Martyr Parish has been remarkable.

Let us not grow tired of doing good, for in due time we shall reap our harvest, if we do not give up.

Gal. 6:9

This Chair Is Hard Lord! A Prayer for times of Church Renovation

O God, who through time-sacrificing stewards, wonderfully transform gyms into sacred spaces of spiritual exercise,

look kindly upon your people, gathered to worship in this, our lower church. Accept our offering of discomfort lifted up to you from these metal chairs,

our small share in your great sacrifice of love shown forth to us on the wood of the cross. May the inconveniences we must endure in these days of transition

make us one with all who suffer discomfort as a way of life - those confined to the steel of a wheelchair,

those sitting bedside on a hospital chair keeping vigil with a loved one who is sick, those who sit in refugee camps displaced from church and home forever.

Lord, thank you for this chair and for the opportunity to sit in your Holy presence, waiting for the nourishment you give us in Word and Sacrament.

Continue to cushion us with your love and make our hearts soft to receive your grace. Amen

RENOVATION UPDATE This past week we presented the financial plan for our church renovation to the Diocesan College of Consultors, the Diocesan Finance Council and the Diocesan Lawyer for their consideration. I am happy to announce that we have received unanimous approval from both the College and the Council and a nihil obstat from our lawyer. This gives us all of the necessary diocesan permissions we need to move forward with our plans up to a maximum of 5.6 million dollars. We are currently entering a second phase of fundraising for our project with a mind towards decreasing the amount of the loan we might need to take to cover the difference between what we receive in gifts (currently 4,985,886.55) and the final cost of the project, which is currently $5,275,400.00. I will share more with you on the finances in the near future. As you know we have placed our renovation under the protection and patronage of Saint Joseph, on whose feast day we had our ground breaking. His prayers for us are most certainly gaining many graces from the hand of our loving God! God bless.

MEMORIAL DAY MASS Monday, May 30, 2016

This Memorial Day take time to remember - say a prayer for all who have given their lives for our country - say a prayer for their family and friends, especially those who have lost sons and daughters, husbands and wives, fathers and mothers, relatives and friends in the recent conflicts around the world. Say a prayer for the troops serving today throughout the world and at home. Say a prayer that God bless America and that there be peace on earth. Take time to remember. In keeping with our Memorial Day custom of celebrating the 8:30 am Mass at our cemetery (in school gym if weather does not cooperate), located at the corner of Shunpike Road and Noe Avenue, we will gather at the altar located in the "priests' circle". We will remember in prayer all those men and women who have died in the defense of our country in all areas of the world. We will pray for peace and echo again the words of Pope Paul VI and Pope John Paul II, when they both spoke to the United Nations, "No more war, war never again!" Please Note: There will not be a 12 noon Mass on Memorial Day, Monday May 30th.

SUNDAY READINGS The Most Holy Trinity

First Reading: Proverbs 8:22-31 God created Wisdom before he created the earth or the skies. This spirit stood beside God every day until the earth was complete, then "found delight in the people of the earth." This indicates that the spirit of wisdom was later personified by Jesus.

Second Reading: Romans 5:1-5 Paul says that we are now at peace with God through our faith in Jesus. We also hope to see the glory of God. This hope will not leave us disappointed because of the love God has shown in sending us the Holy Spirit.

Gospel: John 16:12-15 Jesus tells the disciples that when he leaves them, a Spirit will help guide them to the truth. This Spirit will announce what he hears from Jesus, rather than speaking on his own. Everything God has also belongs to Jesus, which is why those things announced by the Spirit will actually come from Jesus.

Solemnidad de la Santísima Trinidad

Solemnidad de la Santísima Trinidad

Primera Lectura: Prov. 8, 22-31 Segunda Lectura: Rom. 5, 1-5 Evangelio San Juan 16,

queridos difuntos.
