VOCATION CORNERTHE MAIN CATHOLIC VOCATIONS

A vocation is a call from God to pursue holiness in a specific way, involving a public and permanent commitment.Marriage: Most people are called to marriage – a vowed union of a man and a woman who promise to love their spouses and to joyfully welcome children.Generous Single Life in Christ:The Church recognizes that some people, for various reasons, are not called or cannot live in vocations such as marriage or consecrated life. Nonetheless, the Catechism says “they can contribute greatly to the good of the human family” (#2231). “Some live their situation in the spirit of the Beatitudes, serving God and neighbor in exemplary fashion.” (CCC1658).Priesthood: Priests bring Jesus to people and people to Jesus through preaching and the sacraments. They are ordained to devote their lives to serve the people of God.Consecrated Life: Both men and women make vows of poverty, chastity and obedience when they join orders such as the Franciscans, Benedictines, Dominicans, etc.

VOCATIONSToday we hail Christ as our king, the victor over the power of death. This Jesus, who loves us and freed us from our sins by His own blood, and who by Baptism has made us a royal nation of priests in the service of His God and Father. He who is King, continues to choose men and women to serve as priests, sisters, brothers or deacons, so that the faithful may know him, love Him, and serve Him as well. If you feel God is calling you to a Church vocation, then email Fr. Matt or Fr. Michael: [email protected] and/or visit our website: www.myvocation.com

A GOFUNDME CAMPAIGNFOR THE DOMINICAN NUNS!

The Lay Dominicans of the Mother of God Chapter in West Springfield are sponsoring a GoFundMe campaign for the Dominican Nuns of the Mother of God Monastery in West Springfield. Your donations would help defer the huge costs of repairs and renovations to the lower level of one section of the Monastery. Structural damage to the foundation, water, mold and asbestos issues need to be repaired and replaced (concrete floors and walls, excavation, water drainage) and other issues including repairs to the steeple and possibly a wheelchair ramp. Know that the Lay Dominicans would be so grateful to everyone for any donations to help the Nuns. As, in their cloistered vocation, the Nuns intercede with the Father of Mercies for the universal Church, as well as for the needs and salvation of the whole world, we, in turn, want to support them in any way that we are able. Check out the link: www.gofundme.com/dominican-nuns-ws-renovation.
