PARISH FAMILY OF OUR LADY OF THE LAKE
1400 Main Street ~ Leominster, MA 01453
Mission Statement
As a faith-filled Christian Community we are committed to building up the Body of Christ and strengthening the Kingdom of God. Through diverse ministries, we share our many gifts to respond to the needs within and outside our Parish Community. Confident in our strengths and aware of our weaknesses, we enter into collaboration with other communities to deepen our relationship with Jesus and one another. By fulfilling our pastoral, sacramental, and educational needs, we, as a Eucharistic Church, work to proclaim the message and presence of the risen Lord.
Sacrament of Baptism Parents wishing to have their children baptized must attend an instruction which is offered once a month. Please call the Parish Office to make arrangements.
Sacrament of Marriage The Sacrament of Marriage is celebrated following
a program of marriage preparation. Please call the
Parish Office at least one year in advance to make
arrangements.
Ministry to the Sick and Elderly Please notify us when a parishioner is homebound or hospitalized so that we may visit the person and offer the sacraments of the Church.
Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (R.C.I.A.) If you are interested in the process of leading to membership in the Catholic Church, please contact the Parish Office.

As this bulletin goes to press (Wednesday
morning), we are in the final hours of preparing
for our fortieth annual parish bazaar: the tents are
up, the apples are peeled and ready to become
pies, the various booths are being decorated, the
White Elephant crew (who have been hard at
work for weeks) have finished pricing things, books and
jewelry are well stocked and the weather…well, we live in
hope! Thank you to everyone who has worked so hard to keep
this annual event alive in our parish. A special word of thanks
to the leadership team for the many hours they have spent this
summer. Great job team!
Special appeal: What goes up must come down! We need
help, especially from our young people (junior high and high
school) to trash all the left over things that were not sold at
the White Elephant. We will need help beginning Saturday
around 8:30 p.m. With a lot of helping hands, we can have
this task finished by 10:00 p.m. PLEASE come and help, all
are welcome. Trust me, it will be fun!!!! Pizza at the end!
We also need many hands again on Sunday morning
beginning at 8:00 a.m. to bring everything else down and to
store it away until next year. Please give us an hour or two,
your help really makes a difference. Please, please give us a
helping hand!
As part of our 40th Bazaar and in honor of this year dedicated
by Pope Francis to the celebration of those who have
consecrated their lives to God and the service of His Church
as consecrated religious, we will offer all the woman religious
living and serving here in north country a free meal at any
time during our bazaar celebration. This is a small token of
our gratitude to these wonderful women who have given so
much to so many. Thank you Sisters and God bless you all.
In the words of Pope Francis: “We love you, and we love
what you do each day of your dedicated lives.”

If you would like your child registered for Religious Ed Classes this year, please register Now! All Registered families will receive a calendar next week with dates for the entire school year, and labels which inform you of the date and time of each child’s class.
Classes for Kindergarten through Grade 8 start the last week in September. High School Students have received a letter with dates for all classes, which are on Sundays, and start in mid-September. If you do not receive your calendar, please contact the Religious Ed office, 978-342-2978, Ext. 4.
ARE YOU THINKING OF A TEACHING MINISTRY? As we prepare for the start of classes, we are in need of
teachers in Grades 2-4 on Mondays, and in Grades 1, 2,
3, and 5 on Tuesdays (4:15-5:15 PM). We also need
Aides on both of these days for Grades 1-5.
All new teachers receive training in lesson
planning and classroom management, and we
provide support and feedback for all of our
teachers throughout the year. We would love
to have a few more substitute teachers for our
children in Grades 1-5 on Mondays and Tuesdays from
4:15-5:15 PM, for Gr. 6-7-8 on Monday nights from 6:45-8
PM, and for High School classes on Sunday evenings.
We are also looking for someone to serve as a General Aide
on Tuesdays, to assist students in their search for the
restrooms, and to track attendance! If you have an interest
in any of these roles, please call the Religious Ed office.
Safe Environment Training
New this year, the Diocese is offering on-line Safe
Environment Training.
To participate in this program, please contact Lisa Sciacca at [email protected] to provide her with your email address. She will then contact the Office for Healing and Prevention. Within 2-3 days, you'll receive an email from Cathaleen Pelloquin from the Worcester Diocese, with the link for you to use to take the online course. (If you don't get it, check your spam folder to make sure it didn't get sent there!) Then you just click on the link and take the course at your convenience. At the end of the program, you'll take a quiz to see what you've learned. Upon completion, you will see a certificate that you can print out. You can forward that to Lisa directly, or bring her a paper copy, so that it can be put in your permanent record. If you cannot access this on-line program, we are offering one training day here at OLL on Tuesday, October 27th, 7-9 PM, in the St. Katherine Drexel Room (M8).
Each year a new CORI form, with a copy of your
current driver’s license attached, must be
submitted. Please contact our Safe Environment
Coordinator, Lisa Sciacca, at 978-345-7469 with any questions concerning your compliance with these mandates.

Over the years, several families have asked that memorial donations be made to Our Lady of the Lake at the time of the death of a loved one. The names of these beloved parishioners are etched on the memorial plaques near the shrine of Saint Joseph, and
we pray often for those whose names are written there.
The fund has grown considerably over the years, and so the decision was made to use some of that money to update our parish kitchen. The kitchen is used now more than ever, especially by those involved in our Brown Bag Ministry. Most recently, the families of Margaret Winchester and Ray Duval requested that memorial donations given in memory of Margaret and Ray be used to purchase new ovens. The new stoves were installed this week, just in time for our an-nual bazaar. Wait until you see the apple pies!
A very special word of thanks to parishioner, Raul Batallas, who donated his time and talent, as an electrician, to update the electrical work needed for the new ovens. We are very grateful for his generosity, which saved us several thousand dollars.
TIME, TALENT, AND TREASURE
are the hallmarks of stewardship. Your
generosity with all three, enable us to
accomplish many things here at Our
Lady of the Lake. Thank you everyone!
