* * * * * * * * Prepare for Pentecost

50 Days after the Resurrection Next Sunday we celebrate the Coming of God the Holy Spirit into the Church, which ignited the Easter faith of the Apostles.

God the Father created us! God the Son redeemed us! God the Holy Spirit animates us!

We hope the “Pentecost Novena” inserted in this Bulletin will help you to prepare for the second-most important solemnity in the Liturgical Calendar, after the Resurrection of Jesus. The liturgical color, RED, should remind you of the fire-like enthusiasm that should characterize us Christians, eager to spread the Gospel of Love with the whole world.

Our “Parish Year” Comes to an End The Parish Year extends from September to May

Thanks to each and every parishioner who worked hard to strengthen our Community spirit, so important for a parish life! Remember, the Church is the People! What a parish! The summer months are vital for relaxing, vacationing and for reflection on what has been and what can be better for our parishioners. (August planning days will be here soon enough.) Thank you!

Holy Trinity Schola Cantorum Our professional choir completes their ministry with a little extension this Parish Year to celebrate our Parish Feast Day of the Most Holy Trinity at 11:15 on Sunday, June 16th. Thank you, Dr. Andrew Yeargin and the members of the Schola for a year of beautiful music! * * * * * * * *

The final dinner meeting of the Parish Advisory Council this Parish Year (Sep-May) will take place in the rectory at 5:00 PM next Sunday, June 9th. Representatives are reminded to be present.

Father’s Day Envelopes

On June 16th, we shall celebrate Father’s Day in our nation. As we did for Mother’s Day, Father’s Day envelopes are available in the rear of the church of your convenience. If you care to use one, please write the names of all the fathers in your extended family and place it in any parish collection. (BTW, 69 households did so for Mother’s Day.) * * * * * * * *

As the Parish Year Comes to an End

Ulysses by Alfred, Lord Tennyson Come, my friends,

’Tis not too late to seek a newer world. Push off, and sitting well in order smite

The sounding furrows; for my purpose holds To sail beyond the sunset, and the baths

Of all the western stars, until I die. It may be that the gulfs will wash us down: It may be we shall touch the Happy Isles,

And see the great Achilles, whom we knew. Tho’ much is taken, much abides; and tho’

We are not now that strength which in old days Moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are;

One equal temper of heroic hearts, Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will

To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.

+ Holy Trinity – 10 Years Ago +

“from the archives!” Once again summer is upon us and most of our regular activities are on hiatus. We like to take advantage of this lull to reprint items from the 2009 bulletin. It’s always an inter-esting look back. We hope new parishioners find the tidbits informative, and, for parishioners who were here then, there’s always a certain nostalgic “That was ten years ago??” And if that doesn’t make you feel old, we will also present some entries from 20 years ago! This Week Fr. Koterski’s “Understanding the Gospels” Discussion Group will meet today at the new time of 2:00 PM., focusing on the Gospel readings for the month. New insights will deepen your appreciation of – and participation in – the Mass. All are welcome! Bring your questions! Fr. Yann Vagneux will present his final “Mass in French” on Wednesday, January 7th, 8:00 PM, with a Pot Luck reception in the Murphy Center afterwards. (English text provided for those with only High School French!) The Holy Trinity Nursery School is now accepting applications for the 2009-10 term. For more information, contact Nancy Galizynski. (1/04/09) This Week Journeying with Mark & John: Lenten Reflection Group – Fr. Jim Yeakel and Todd Knapp will lead a reflection group, meeting Saturdays of Lent, 3:30-4:30 PM in the Murphy Center; light refreshments and reflection material will be provided. RSVP to Todd Knapp. (3/01/09)
