Pope Francis turns 79 on Thursday, December 17th. Please pray for him and all of our Church leaders, both clerical and lay, working in concert with each other under the enabling arm of the Holy Spirit.

The “Business” Side of Holy Trinity Parish

Keeping you informed about the financial management of Holy Trinity, the material needs of which depend almost exclusively on your weekly contributions. Thank you. Would you kindly consider remembering Holy Trinity in your will? Thank you.

PRAYER SEEDS It is so hard to believe because it is so hard to obey.

Soren Kierkegaard I Didn’t Know That!

See, everyday, you can learn something new [about your Catholic Faith].

To show proper respect upon entering a Catholic church, one should genuflect (ancient Latin custom) or bow profoundly from the waist (ancient Greek custom) in the general direction of the tabernacle.

Practical Christianity It’s Really Easier Than You Think

Volunteer for the Holy Trinity weekly Homeless Shelter Program and help those less fortunate than yourselves. It will change your faith life.

A Good Old Prayer May it be Thy will, O God, that we return to Thee in perfect patience, so that we may not be ashamed to meet our fathers in the life to come. The Talmud * * * * * * * *

“The Jubilee Year of Mercy” Unique Holy Trinity “Mercy” Cards are

at Back of Church The Extraordinary Holy Year of Mercy, called by Pope Francis, began with the Opening of the Holy Doors at St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome on Tuesday, December 8th. [see next page for paragraph for designated Holy Doors in Manhattan.] We have created special holy cards for you to use throughout the Year to help you focus on God’s mercy towards us, and our responsibility to imitate the Almighty in our everyday encounters with other people. Holy Trinity 2016 Calendars MAGNETIC Calendars and WALL Calendars

Pick up a personalized parish calendar at the back of the church. The WALL calendars have been very generously donated by the CRESTWOOD FUNERAL HOME on West 43rd Street. There are English and Spanish versions. (Thank you!) Please take one per household so we have enough for all parishioners.

“Local” Holy Doors Opening TODAY Around the World

Catholics may receive a

Plenary (full) Indulgence by: 1. making a pilgrimage to the Holy Doors in Rome OR

in a designated church; 2. being truly penitent and not be conscious of any

serious sin on one’s soul; 3. receive Sacraments of Confession & Communion; 4. say prayers for the welfare of the Pope. (Our

Father, Hail Mary, Glory be.)

What is a Plenary Indulgence? By means of a plenary indulgence, God “removes from our souls” all the “temporal punishment” due to one’s own sins, and/or of a deceased person.

What does “temporal punishment” mean? God purifies us of whatever remains of our unhealthy “attachments” to this world.

Holy Trinity Homeless Shelter Relocating to Ascension Church

As announced at today’s Masses, we are overseeing the move of the Homeless Shelter, which has been a mainstay of our parish for well over 20 years, to Ascension Parish on W. 107th Street. After speaking with Ascension parishioners who share our commitment to social justice, they informed Monsignor Sandi about the wisdom of relocating, based on space and better facilities. Renewing our commitment to “God’s poor,” the parish made a donation for the construction of a large storage closet, and will continue to support this vital ministry. If you would like to volunteer for this ministry, please email Chris O’Donnell at [email protected].
