As a child, he studied drawing and painting, until he went to Paris in 1910 to become an artist. Chagall often painted dreamlike scenes using memories from his childhood. He painted art that was surreal, expressing his emotions through colors and imagined imagery. In his painting Paris Through the Window, Chagall combined his inner world of memories and outer world of reality. Today, we will use images in our own lives to create our own “City Through the Window.” • Construction paper • Glue stick • Pastels • Scissors • Hairspray On a white sheet of construction paper, create a pastel drawing of the city you live in. With a sheet of construction paper in your favorite color, cut out a window frame. On the same sheet, use pastels to draw an animal that you’ve seen in your neighborhood. Cut your drawing out. Use your fingers or a piece of scrap paper to blend colors together to create a dreamlike environment. On a separate sheet, create a portrait of yourself looking through the window. Cut your drawing out. On your cityscape, paste your window frame, your portrait, and your animal drawing. Spray hairspray to your artwork to make sure the pastel doesn’t smudge! Marc chagall

Artista ruso Marc Chagall nació en 1887. Él era el mayor de nueve hijos. Cuando era niño, él estudio el dibujo y la pintura - hasta viajando a Paris en 1910 para convertirse en un artista. A menudo Chagall pintaba arte que era surrealista, expresando sus emociones a través de colores y imágenes imaginadas. En la pintura “Paris a través La Ventana”, Chagall mezclo el mundo interior de los recuerdos con el mundo exterior de nuestra realidad.
