Communication:How will we communicate with you?

Curriculum:• The whole school curriculum is based on the National Curriculum. • This is statutory for all maintained schools in England. In 2014, this changed

significantly and is different for year groups./.. Esp in core subjects.• See website for parent guides and support.• The RE Curriculum is the Leeds Agreed Syllabus and is the same for all maintained

and Voluntary Controlled Church Schools. This changed in 2015 and is on the website for reference.

• Early Years Foundation Stage is subject to a different curriculum and assessment process. This has changed last year and the on entry assessment is based on a Standardised Age Score.

• Miss Judge has overall responsibility for ensuring the curriculum has been mapped out by subject leaders and delivered by teachers.

Attendance:New policy was sent to all parents in July 2013. Cluster agreed policy. Fines will be issued by the AIO Officers.

Secretary of State for Education has taken away the rights of Heads to authorise any absence.

Only applicable if exceptional circumstances, as stated in the letter from Paul Brennan.

Behaviour and Safety:Behaviour Policy – reviewed last year.New Sleuth recording system. Online and used throughout. Reports run each day and discussed on Friday.

Reading and Writing:The mechanics of reading are taught using the Read Write Inc scheme.Children are assessed on a half termly basis, being then grouped according to their stage not their age.

The LOVE of reading is taught through Guided Reading, Class books, library sessions and real books. DROP IN after school library session….Miss Whiteley

All children are expected to write in a cursive style. This is in line with the Letter join system. It is a beautiful style and begins as soon as they come in, with pre cursive writing.

Healthy Schools, lunches and PEWe gained the Healthy Schools Award last year, again. On the website.The job of the school food plan is to significantly increase the number of children eating good food in schools, and to determine the role of food, cooking and growing in schools.You can find the School Food Plan site at: www.schoolfoodplan.comReception – Year 2 have free meals and we are delighted by the take up of these. Packed lunches need to reflect the same focus on health, so Mrs Carter has been working on guidelines for this.

reading, science, ICT etc. Come to parent workshops• Listen to your children – spend time talking to them – ask them BIG questions – learn

their times tables….be positive about learning..• Take them shopping and let them pay with coins/notes…real money• Talk about maths, numbers, shapes, from a young age
