VaRIaTIon of sCHeDUleAt certain times and certain days, students are picked up earlier due to specific activities or events. On those days, it is imperative to pick-up your child at the designated time since there will be no supervision after that time. A 15 minutes grace period is given to for a child to be picked-up. Thereafter, a $75 fee is applicable if a child is left in school after the grace period.

aRRIVal & enTRY PRoCeDURes1. For grade 1 to grade 6 - use the “Drop-Off Zone” and the parking facing

the baseball field. Enter through the main doors located in the new wing.2. For the daycare, use the parking area facing the football field. Enter through

the side doors leading to the daycare.3. Teachers’ pick-up students at 8:20am SHARP! Ensure that your child arrives

in time for line-up (the latest 8:15am).

DePaRTURe PRoCeDURes1. Kindly ensure that you pick up your child at the designated time noted on

the  Departure Schedule. This can be found in the Information Request Form. This form is for students from kindergarten to grade 6.

2. Please complete & return the Request for Information Form no later than August 3th, 2015 (extended to August 21, 2015)

3. Depending on the weather, departure can be either from the “Drop-Off Zone” area or the recreation yard. You will be advised.

4. Weather conditions also determine whether or not students go outside to play. As a rule, students will not go out in cases of frost bite warnings, temperatures of -20˚C or colder, or heavy rain.

laTeness PRoCeDUReThere are three non- valid lateness allowed within a month period. The fourth non- valid lateness will result in the following:

1. The student will not be allowed to interrupt a class already in session2. Work missed as a result of this lateness will have to be made up at home3. A meeting with the parent will be mandatory for the purpose of reviewing

this matter.

PaRKInG1. We recommend that parents of children attending the Preschool use the parking

area located in front of the football/soccer field.2. We recommend that parents of children attending kindergarten, grades 1 to 6,

use the parking area located in front of the baseball field.3. Refrain from parking in the circular driveway and/or walking on the grass as well

as the landscape area.4. The reserved parking areas marked “Director” should be kept clear at all times.

snaCK TIMe1. Students are allowed to bring snack for morning recess (no chocolate, no candies,

no soda & no chips). Please send your child with a healthy snack (i.e. cheese, yogurt, crackers, fruits, vegetables, etc.).

2. Afternoon snack is provided by the Académie and is offered at 3:30 pm.3. Students who stay for homework study program will have their snack in the

cafeteria or outside and continue with their homework at 4:00 pm This will also be the case for children doing extra-curricular activities.

4. Make sure your child has appropriate outdoor clothing (coats, boots, gloves, scarf, hats etc.) for the recess periods. Please follow the weather conditions of that day.

5. In the winter, the students eat their morning snack inside and then go out to the recreational.

6. At temperatures -20˚C or colder, possibility of frostbites or conditions of heavy rain, students stay inside the school.

7. When a child has a birthday, snack will be in the cafeteria. Parents are invited to send food items (i.e. cup cakes) to help celebrate this special day. However, parents must first consult with their child’s teacher and ensure that all food items are NUT FREE  

sPeCIal aleRT on fooD & snaCKsDue to serious health issues that may be associated with individuals allergic to nuts and peanuts, we ask that you refrain from sending your child with any items that may contain traces of these ingredients.  

CloTHInG1. Students are to wear their complete uniform other than on gym days.2. On gym days, students wear their gym uniform.3. Observe all protocol related to the type of footwear to bring and use in school so

as to not leave marks on the floor. Shoes are loafer type (NO shoelaces) and with soles that will not mark the floor. AVOID “sneaker” type footwear (NO HEELY’s).

4. Students are to bring their running shoes to go to gym and/or shoes to exchange to play outside.

5. Students will wear the complete uniform on days of a photo shoot. If this falls on the same day as gym, the student will bring the gym uniform in a bag so she/he may change.

NOTE: Maison Lemira is the official provider of the Academies’ uniform & shoes. Adherence to the uniform protocol is mandatory.

blUePRInT of aCTIVITIes1. The School Calendar outlines all of the activities for the year and, thus, is a

blueprint detailing the events of the year. So, it is an important document to have in your possession. The calendar is posted on the web site.

2. It is strongly recommended that you post the school calendar in a visible place and that you refer to it as needed.

3. Should there be any changes to the calendar, these will be posted at least two (2) months prior to the month or activity of interest, to the extent possible. These changes are sent to you either via e-mail and/or are posted on the web site. Please go to the following link www.amcca.ca.

4. Reminders are sent, as warranted, one (1) week before an activity or event.

ReGIsTRaTIon foR aCTIVITIesRegistration of all events which includes outings, parascolaire courses, General Assembly, Spring Festival, Graduations for kindergarten & maternelle, among other activities involves completing and returning a form which we call “Coupon”, along with payment or other information required, should these be applicable, to the appropriate administrative personnel member. This idea of the Coupon is central to the way in which registration to events is done at Académie Marie-Claire. To register for parascolaire courses go to: www.amcca.ca / My AMC / General Info / parascolaires course. To register for all other outings, events, go to www.amcca.ca / My AMC / General Info / coupons.

aDHeRenCe To DUe DaTes1. We kindly ask your co-operation and assistance in an attempt to improve our

service to your child. Please ensure that all due dates for the outings, special events and other activities are adhered to and followed.

2. In the rare instance that one can still register after the due date, a late fee will be applicable in each circumstance:a. $25.00 for each of the outings b. $35.00 for each of the parascolaire activities

3. Do note in all events and activities participation is on a first come first basis.

PaYMenTsAll checks or monies related to coupons or parascolaire should be handed directly to the appropriate administrative personnel member at the office in a sealed envelope.

sCHool CURRICUlUMThe school/class programs and expectations will be detailed by the appropriate teachers on the evening of the General Assembly. Light can be shed on whatever questions you may have that where not addressed and seek clarification on educational matters that may feel so warrant.

sTUDenT eValUaTIonEvaluation is both formal and informal. Hence, academic performance as well as behavior, social interaction, human sensitivity, among other factors, is taken into consideration.

There are weekly exams, a preliminary brief report/update given around the time of October and 3 detailed report cards during the course of the year.

Evaluations are comprehensive and each department (i.e., French, Math, etc.) will advise you and your child when these exams take place at the time of the General Assembly. All aspects touched upon in the Code of Conduct are assessed.

PaRenT TeaCHeR MeeTInGParent-Teacher meeting will begin at 1:00pm. On those days, students MUST be picked up between 12:00pm -1:00pm. The staff will not be available to supervise the students after 1:00pm, so please make the appropriate arrangements.

eaRlY DIsMIssalsWe kindly ask your co-operation and mark the dates on your calendar for the days the school closes at 3:30pm. All students MUST be picked up by that time since no staff will be available to supervise the students after the early dismissal time.

HoMeWoRK/sTUDY PRoGRaMStudents who register for the study homework program must respect the time line schedule of the program. Those benefitting from this program must adhere to the program’s time line schedules.

DIsCIPlIne1. Respect, Courtesy and Diligence are the foundation upon which is built Académie

Marie-Claire’s Code of Discipline & Code of Conduct.2. Parents are strongly encouraged to read Académie’s code judiciously. You can find

a copy of the code in your child’s agenda and on the website.3. In general, the procedures are as follows:

a. Issues are discussed as often as necessary with the parties involved to try to resolve the situation.

b. Discussion is followed by other sanctions that could include, but is not limited to, specific assignments, missing recreation, detention.

c. Should this not be sufficient and depending on the situation, the student will be suspended.

d. Three suspensions will result in an automatic expulsion from the school.e. Parents are kept abreast as needed, on a case-by-case basis.f. The behavior of a student is kept on his/her agenda and may be viewed at any time

on the school web site portal. For a day-to-day & complete review of your child’s behavioral history, please consult the portal on the web site.

PaRenT PaRTICIPaTIonParent involvement is encouraged and promoted. The members of the Parent Advisory Committee and the many parent volunteers serve to further the vision and mission of Académie Marie-Claire for the benefit of the students.

Web sITeThere are 2 parts to the website - the main web site pages and the portal that can be found under www.amcca.ca / MY AMC / My account.

Main page (www.amcca.ca / My AMC) - The main pages found on www.amcca.ca / MY AMC provides general information on Académie Marie-Claire and is accessible to everyone. The section MY AMC is reserved for Académie Marie-Claire family members. You will need and will be given an ID and password. Once your password is entered, there usually will be no need to type it in again. The ID & password are changed periodically. You will be notified. There you will find the school calendar which is a blueprint of ALL the outings, activities and events for the school year, including general forms, coupons, and other notes, documents for use. In many, if not all cases, forms are interactive and these cases you will be able to complete and return the forms in the comfort of your home or computer work station. In other cases, you will have to print the document, complete and return to the designated individual.

Portal (www.amcca.ca / My AMC / My account) - In the same section, you can go to My AMC/My Account which is specific to the portal, a private communication system between you and the Académie the daily life at the Académie. Once your child is registered to attend

the Académie, you will need and will be given an ID and password to have access to the portal. You can keep or change your password at any time. In this section, you will be able to communicate with teachers and other staff members, keep track of your child’s daily activities in school as well as view your child’s overall progress in school, including access to your child’s homework, test scores, report card and other matters of interest. Also, you will be able to schedule appointments for the two (2) yearly Parent-Teacher Meetings to review your child’s progress in school and his/her report card (IMPORTANT! You must schedule these meetings via the portal. These meetings cannot be scheduled from elsewhere). Instructions for this will be given to you at the appropriate time.

WeaTHeR eMeRGenCIesProcedures for school closing due to snow, climate or other conditions are as follows:

1. Whether we are open or not will be posted on the web site of Académie Marie-Claire, www.amcca.ca.

2. Our telephones will be activated indicating whether we are open or closed (if any doubt or contradiction, information on the front page of the portal will prevail).

3. Tune to radio stations CKAC 730AM, INFO 690 AM, CHMP 98.5FM, CKOI 96.9 FM, 940 NEWS MONTREAL, Q92 FM (if any doubt or contradiction, information on front page of the portal will prevail).
