MODULE QUESTIONS

VARIABLE NAME: begreat_1

VARIABLE HISTORY: Wave 90 – June 2008, variable added

QUESTION: In the last year, have you seen or heard of any parenting campaigns? Interviewer: If required “parenting campaigns are designed to raise awareness and provide information and support to parents about a variety of parenting issues.”

Response Options 1 Yes 3 Qualified Yes (I think so, I guess so)5 No8 Don’t Know9 Refused

ANALYSIS ISSUES: Respondents who answer no, don’t know, or refused, skip to question 3 (begreat_3) Begreat_1=3 (“qualified yes”) should be grouped with begreat_1=8 (“don’t know”) for

analysis. Beginning in 2018 (Cycle 28), the Sociodemographics—Children module changed to

only ask age information of the children in the household to which the respondent was a parent (dc2_parent=1) or guardian (dc2_parent=5 and 1 ≤ dc3_parent ≤ 9), with the addition of questions dc2_parent and dc3_parent. Respondents who are not parents or guardians of children exit the module without providing the ages of the children in their household. Starting in 2018, being a parent (dc2_parent=1) or guardian (dc2_parent=5 and 1 ≤ dc3_parent ≤ 9) is a requirement to respond to this module, while previously the module was asked to all respondents who said there were children aged 0 to 17 living in the household (dc1=1).
