Priory Picnics deliver an interesting lesson on market research
As part of the year 12 business students learning on marketing and market research,
they recently had a presentation from Rupert Prior, Owner of Priory Picnics. Rupert
gave an informative presentation on his business and took questions from the stu-
dents relating to how he marketed his business to his local customers. After the
presentation, Rupert commented, “It was obvious they had researched a great deal
about my business and had a good knowledge of marketing.”

Oxbridge offers for KTS sixth form students
We are very pleased to announce that 4 of our most distinguished year 13 students have received offers to study at
either Oxford or Cambridge.
During the Autumn term, Alex Massie, Ellen King, Simran Sidhu and Amanda Ludbrook successfully took on the no-
toriously difficult and intimidating Oxbridge interviews and have since been made conditional offers of study in
their respective subjects, shown below:
Alex Massie – German with ab initio Russian at Cambridge
Ellen King (Head Girl) - German and ab initio Italian at Somerville College, Oxford
Simran Sidhu- Law at Oxford
Amanda Ludbrook- Maths at Cambridge
Congratulations to these 4 high flyers!
UCAS applications
The deadline for applications to be sent to UCAS has now passed, with approximately
77% of year 13 students option to apply to university this year.
It is important that students who have applied to university now make full use of the ‘track’ section of the UCAS
website. This will allow students to see if offers have been made by their chosen universities.
Most universities have until 31st March to respond to applicants, although this deadline may be extended for cours-
es where auditions, interviews and/ or assessment of portfolio work is required.
Once students receive responses from all of their university choices, they need to begin thinking about selecting a
‘firm’ and ‘insurance’ choice. More guidance regarding this process will be provided to students in upcoming tutori-
als.
If you have any questions regarding the UCAS application process, please feel free to contact Head of Sixth Form,
Mrs Hopkins or Deputy Head of Sixth Form, Mr Raymen.
Senior footballers look forward to quarterfinal clash
This Friday, the senior boys’ football team will face-off against Onslow St Audrey’s School,
Hatfield in the quarterfinal of the County Cup.
Having beaten excellent teams in the previous rounds, the KTS boys are confident that they can
progress even further in this year’s competition.
This match promises to be extremely competitive and a fierce contest between 2 very good sides.
It would be great to see as many parents, students and staff in attendance as possible to support the boys and help
them to a crucial County Cup victory.
Kick off is at 3pm on Friday 20th January on the school 3G pitch.
Connexions drop-in sessions
We are hosting a Connexions Drop-In Session between 1.30-2.15pm in the old Duke
of Edinburgh office (at the bottom/ back of T Block) every Tuesday lunch time.
These sessions are staffed by Connexions worker Chris Aylward who utilises his years of experience in the careers
advice and education sector to assist students in exploring their post-18 options.
Chris is able to provide advice about post-18 education, employment and apprenticeship training. We would partic-
ularly like to encourage any students who have not applied to university to utilise this service. However, it is also an
opportunity for those students who have applied to university to explore options outside of higher education.
Year 12 student profile- Calum Crawford
Calum entered the KTS sixth form with an incredibly impressive set of GCSE results, includ-
ing; 6 A* grades, 1 A grade and 2 B grades.
Calum is currently studying PE, Maths, Physics and Product Design but is also volunteering
a lot of his time in the PE department as a coach for the year 7 football team.
He has assisted staff by refereeing matches, organising training drills and even helping with
the initial team trials, where over 50 students were in attendance.
We are very pleased that Calum elected to continue his education at Knights Templar and we are equally pleased to
see him giving back to the school community in such a positive way.
