The importance of Parental Engagement

Recent research has shown that parental engagement

is a decisive factor in determining learner

achievement.”

“What really matters is that learners feel their parents

are paying attention, engaged in the children’s learning

and care about their performance.”

How do we engage parents?

• Ask the parents what they want and how they plan

to use it!

• Use technology to make a difference and

genuinely add value.

• Focus on what will genuinely help parents to

better support their children’s learning.

• Constantly reflect with parents on how to improve

and focus on evolution not revolution.

• Be aware of those who are ‘hard to reach’.
