Dear Parents,

Aer a busy week with CWW, many students are excited about the long weekend so they

can relax and take advantage of having some addional free me. Preadolescents and

adolescents need free me to explore their own interests, be with friends or just simply

unwind. One of the key components of our school mission is to, “Maintain a healthy

balance in the me devoted to work, rest and recreaon.” As the long weekend com-

mences, why not talk to your child about how they plan to use their me and oer guid-

ance so that their weekend is balanced.

Middle School students love spending me with their friends but they connue to crave

meaningful interacons with grown ups. It is essenal that all parents constantly engage

with their children, even if you feel those eorts are not always met as enthusiascally as

you might like! If you and your child can nd free me acvies to enjoy together, it can

be a great way to build your relaonship and maintain open channels of communica-

MS Parent Coee with Lance King:

If you are free on Tuesday, September 29th from 07:45 - 09:00 a.m. why not come and

join our Parent Coee with guest speaker Lance King? Lance will be talking about how

parents can support student learning by culvang a growth mindset and understanding

the powerful lessons that can be learned when we experience failure. This event will be

held in the Lohouse.

Parent -Teacher Conferences (PTCs):

The Parent-Teacher Conferences are once again just around the corner and we would like

to inform you of the schedule for making your reservaons for the Middle School PTCs on

Wednesday, October 14th, Monday, October 19th and Tuesday, October 20th from

1:00pm - 6:00pm. Like last year, this year’s Parent-Teacher Conferences will be reserved

online through the PowerParent portal.

The system will go live at 8.00 am on Monday, October 5th, at which me you will have

access to the PTC Scheduler part of PowerParent. Once logged in you will see an icon,

named “MS PTC Scheduler” towards the boom of the navigaon links on the le handside of the page. Clicking this icon will send you directly to the PTC Scheduler. Pop-up-

blockers will need to be turned o to allow access to the next page.

Next Friday we will send a reminder email and aach a step-by-step guide which will walk

you through the reservaon process. If you have misplaced or forgoen your Pow-

erParent username and password, please call the Middle School Oce on 840 8550 /

8553 or email Krisne Fong ([email protected]). We look forward to seeing you in the

Middle School Media Center:

The Middle School Media Center (MSMC) is a hive of acvity and is a popular desnaon for

students, teachers and parents. We love the fact that our community members enjoy and use

this space and know that many parents view the MSMC as their second home. Recently, we

have noced that a number of parents are so comfortable in our library that they have actual-

ly fallen asleep. While we love that parents feel so relaxed in our library, we would like torespecully request that parents try not to take a nap. The MSMC is used on an ongoing basis

by students and we would like promote the idea that the MSMC is a place of learning not a

place of snoozing! If you are enjoying a good book and feel yourself driing o, please lead by

example and stretch your legs, get a drink of water or go for a walk before returning to your

book.

IASAS is fast approaching! Oct 8-10, 2015

ISM is hosng the IASAS Soccer Championships and whilst

we are hosng soccer our Volleyball and Cross Country

teams will be striving for success in Bangkok at their season

ending championships in two weeks me. Live stream ac-

on/results from Manila and Bangkok will be available

For new ISM families IASAS schools are; ISM, Singapore

American School, Internaonal School Kuala Lumpur, Jakar-

ta Intercultural School, Taipei American School and Interna-

onal School Bangkok.

Hosng an IASAS event has a whole school focus to bring

our community together across all divisions (ES/MS/HS) to

support our Bearcats soccer teams.

ning. We hope to have big crowds out to all games but es-

pecially when our ISM girls and boys

teams are playing.

Leaving ISM?

Please be reminded that parents are obliged to ocially inform the School in wring through

a WITHDRAWAL NOTIFICATION FORM if their child will not be returning for the 2nd Semester

(January 2016 term). Families are encouraged to submit the Withdrawal Nocaon Form,

stang the student's nal date of aendance, immediately. Failure to submit the form may lead

to a delay in the forwarding of your child's transcript to his/her new school.

The Withdrawal Nocaon Form can be obtained from the Admissions Oce, by clicking the

link above, or directly from the ISM website under Admission > Re-Enrollment

& Withdrawal > Withdrawals

This coming October break ISM will be hosng a Fall Basket-ball Camp run by Filipino Basketball Academy FBA. See FBA

Last weekend our Varsity Volleyball teams travel to Kuala

Lumpur for their exchange weekend and our Varsity soccer

teams traveled to Singapore. Some excellent matches and

IASAS preparaon took place for our teams and our girls

volleyball team went through undefeated over the week-

end.

the campus prior to 5pm all aer school programs will con-

clude by 4:50pm
