  • 1. Paramore is an American Rock band currently consisting of vocalist Hayley Williams,bassist Jeremy Davis and Guitarist Taylor York . They previously had twins Josh(Leadguitarist) and Zac Farro (Drummer) in the band until the brothers departure of the bandin 2010. Before the departure of the brothers, their overall music and image were that ofa connoted rock band, all black clothing for the band or all styled similarly. This ishowever overshadowed a lot in Paramores videos because theres not as much focus onthe other band members than there is on Hayley. This is because as the only female inthe band, the record label Fueled By Ramen feel as if focusing and sexualising Hayleywould appeal better to their audience.

As a whole, Paramore doesnt put much effort into hair and make-up that strictly includingthe male members as for Hayley, her hair changes colour and shape every video and shewears quite a bit of make-up. This includes: foundation, eyeliner, mascara, blusher andbronzer. This continues the idea to sexualise Hayley to appeal to their audience andwider. The three screen grabs down below are examples of Hayleys recurring changesof hair and make-up. The screen grab to the left comes from the videocrushcrushcrush made in 2007, the middle screen grab comes from Still Into Youmade in 2013 and the screen grab to the right is from The Only Exception made in2010. 3. Paramore use a variety of settings in their music videos. A prominent feature of thesesettings are the open space that they have for the performance aspect of the musicvideo. For example in the video crushcrushcrush(2007), the band are performing inwhat seems to be a open desert and the same goes for their song Decode(2009) butinstead theyre performing in a forest, however this is because of the intertextualitywithin the video as it is referencing the film Twilight which is ironic because the songwas specifically made to be featured in the films soundtrack. This helps to marketParamore as they are suited for anything whether it be serious or light-hearted. Aint itfun and Still into you are great examples on how light-hearted and fun Paramore canbe. 4. Paramore are somewhat active on YouTube more so than most other artists.Their music videos and behind the scenes are on their niche record labelsYouTube channel Fueled by Ramen while they have their own YouTubechannel Paramore for tour insights and other miscellaneous activities. Thisgoes against the norm as most artists nowadays have Vevo channelswhere everything music related is put up on their own Vevo channel. Also themusic videos that Vevo channels put up, are some of the most viewedvideos on YouTube so for a popular band like Paramore to not have oneshows that they want to be more interactive with their audience which is agreat promotional tool. 5. YouTube comments overall can be very random, harsh, argumentative but also kind. Tosome people, they wouldnt watch a video at all if it has a lot of negative comments anda lot of dislikes. For Paramore, the comments below mostly consist of people sayinghow pretty or beautiful Hayley Williams is but also how people like Paramores music aswell as the occasional I prefer their old music or this is s**t comments. Paramoresmain audience consist of ages between 16-24 year olds that like rock music, but inrecent music that Paramore release it seems that they are broadening their audience toinvolve people that like modern age pop. It is also a dominant male demographic thatlike Paramore but that could be because of Hayley Williams and how sexualised she iswithin the band.
