February 7th The History of Quilting– Elaine Hughes began quilting in 1994 after
retiring from teaching Home Ec. at East Jr. High. She had always loved to sew, by firstpracticing on her mother's treadle sewing machine. She has taught classes in the'70'son double knits, lingerie, and t-shirts. When she began quilting she became a fa-natic. Recently she has taught classes on basic sewing and using a serger. In PAQG shehas served as Librarian, Pattern Chair, Vice President, President, and is currently theWorkshop Chair. She had a One Woman Quilt Show at the Pioneer Women Museum in2004 and has won ribbons in the county fair with her quilts. She has presented pro-grams in Kansas and various Guilds in Oklahoma. She has inherited and purchased someantique quilts and recently been researching the beginning of quilting. This program willexplore the history of quilting with some examples and interesting facts.

PIONEER GARDEN OF QUILTS SHOW
The Quilt Show Committee has been hard at work making plans for your PioneerGarden of Quilts Show on April 16-17, 2011. Sue Roy as arranged for us to have a tableat the Oklahoma City Quilt Show on January 13-15th, 2011. There will be no charge forthe booth. We are asking for volunteers from our guild to work ½ day shifts at the boothto hand out fliers for quilt shops and businesses and bookmarks to any interestedquilters. We will also have tickets to sell that day. Please help us out by volunteering tohelp at the booth.
We plan to hand out a little bag of goodies to guests at our quilt show. We willhave calendars that have highlights of our meetings on them. Do any of you have sugges-tions for little craft items or free gifts you have discovered on the internet or the Hous-ton Quilt Show? Would any of you like to make some little favors for our bags?
Right now, publicity is important. If you frequent any business or quilt show thatwould permit a flier taped inside their window or would pass out bookmarks about ourshow, please contact Roberta Lee or Jane Thomason, or pick some up at our next meeting.
We need your quilts to display. Two of our members were very helpful and madea list of the quilts for our committee to see. That gives us an idea of how many quilts areto be brought and the type of theme they have. We would appreciate your doing that andgiving it to Nancy Shepard. The form that must be filled out for every quilt will be inthe newsletter and on the blog. All of you please plan to show one or many quilts! The
quilts will not be judged. We will not display quilt tops, quilts must be quilted and bound. Thanks,
Jane Thomason and Roberta Lee
